It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …
The older I get, the faster time flies by. I still remember planning my Easter break a while ago, and now
it’s that time of year again when shopping malls are filled with holly and lights and you can hear the lady at the till humming along to Boney M.
From our family to yours, a merry Christmas and a happy new year! And we hope you enjoy our fun-filled Christmas issue. It really does contain something for everyone: crafts and DIY, yummy recipes, great gift ideas, summer fashion trends and much more.

The real toffee apples A delicious treat for the kids, and one which they can help make too. Be extra careful with hot caramel and little fingers. Makes 10
Here is what you need:10 wooden skewers10 small Granny Smith apples500 g granulated sugar1 cup water5 ml vinegar45 ml golden syrup5 ml red food colouringPreparationPlace a sheet of baking paper onto a baking tray. Insert a skewer into each apple, arrange the apples on the tray and set aside. Here is what you do:To Make the toffeePlace the sugar, water and vinegar into a saucepan over low heat and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Then add the syrup and bring to the boil. Boil until the mixture reaches 150 °C on the sugar thermometer (this is the temperature test to follow when making hard crack caramel). If you don’t have a thermometer, test a little syrup by dropping a teaspoon of syrup into cold water. If it sets rock hard immediately it is ready. Remove from the heat and place the sauce-pan into a sink of cold water to cool the mixture. Once it has stopped bubbling, add the red food colouring and swirl around untilfully incorporated.

It’s a dilemma facing every family with a child eager to get behind the wheel. Parents already own three-quarters of the vehicles they designate for kids. But a lot of these vehicles may not be appropriate for teens.
A third of the vehicles that kids drive are more than 10 years old; a quarter are sports cars or other small, zippy models.
When parents think about cars for teens, they rightly emphasize things like fuel economy and reliability. But they need to give top priority to the vehicle’s safety. Only about 20% of parents in a recent survey said safety was the most important factor when selecting a vehicle for a teen.
Teens crash cars four times more often than people 20 and over. That’s partly why we give our kids junkers, so they can bend fenders that have relatively little value. By going the cheap route, though, you could miss out on recent advances. Cars today are the safest we’ve ever seen. Accidents among 18-year-olds (the highest-risk drivers) fell 40 percent, due mostly to better vehicle design and safety features.
Whether you’re considering a vehicle at a dealership or one already parked in your driveway, here are a few questions to consider before buying:Big or Small?Basic or Loaded?
New or Used?Dull or Dream?
Obviously these decisions are also budget related. So why not contact one of our dealers on this page to give you expert advise on this big decision.
Happy Holidays
