Greetings from your Lieutenant Governor
Hello Division 11/18c!
It has been a pleasure serving and
working with you all for these past four
months. Meeting the majority of you has
repeatedly showed me why Division 11/18c
contains the most passionate and spirited
Key Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest.
With the school year coming up in a
month or so, I urge you all to continue mak-
ing your plans for the Key Club year and et
excited for service! This year, I hope to have
an excellent showing as a division at DCON
2015 and I would encourage you all to plan
and begin fundraising as soon as you deem
fit.
I truly feel blessed for being apart of
Division 11/18c and I hope to continue to
work with you all this coming year.
In Caring and Service,
Pranav Arya

Can MNT be stopped?
Yes! MNT is highly preventable. Just three doses of a 60-cent
immunization protect mothers, who then pass on the im-
munity to their future babies. Together, Kiwanis and
UNICEF can stop this disease.
This year’s District Project is….ELIMINATING MNT!
What is MNT?
In 30 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal
tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into
tragedy. MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. Its effects
are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful
convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There
is little hope of survival. And tetanus kills mothers too.
Why hasn't MNT been eliminated al-
ready? UNICEF has helped to successfully eliminate MNT in many
countries. But in 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and
North America, it still strikes babies and mothers who have
little or no access to health care — either because they are
poor, live in remote areas or are caught in humanitarian emergencies. More funds and resources are needed to reach
all babies and mothers at risk.
Who suffers from MNT?
MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil every-
where, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth.
The disease strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographical-
ly hard to reach and those without health care.

Letter from our Governor
Dear PNW Key Clubbers,
I hope everyone has had a great start of the school year, and you know
what the start of the school year means... Your club’s first Key Club Meet-
ing! Key Club is in full bloom, and I can’t wait to see
what your clubs are doing for service and fundraisers!
Remember, if you show how passionate you are for Key
Club others will be inspired to join. Be proud to be a Key
Clubber and remember to exemplify leadership and char-
acter, while always being inclusive and caring to those
around you.
Meeting all of you at the rallies was so inspiring; you are all constantly ded-
icating your time and love to the communities across the Pacific North-
west. I love how you represent key club with your pride and spirit while
showing the dedication and compassion you hold for others.
As always, remember the district board is here for the members and clubs.
Please feel free to contact us at any time with your questions or concerns. I
hope to see y’all at DCON 2015!

Hey Key Clubbers! My name is Dorothy Wang and I am a senior from Division 64 – the new home of the Di-
nosaurs! I cannot express how honored and humbled I am to be able to serve the Pacific Northwest as the Dis-
trict Projects Committee Chair. I will commit this next year to
making the Eliminate Project as successful as it can be for our
district, and I hope you will, too! After raising over $80,000 for
the Eliminate Project over the course of the last year alone, it
won’t be easy for us to top our past accomplishments. However,
I have complete faith in our district to achieve that and so much
more for the campaign’s last year! As some of you may know, our
district goal for this upcoming year is set at $50,000, but why not
raise more? The district hopes to easily surpass that amount and
save as many lives as we possibly can. The Eliminate Project
needs YOU and the support of your Key Clubs and communi-
ties in order to reach our $110 million goal for Kiwanis Interna-
tional and to eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus by 2015.
Time is running out, so it is crucial that we go all out and do all
that we can for the project in its final stage!
Although the Eliminate Project has been our district project for
over a year, we cannot afford to loosen the reins and wait for others to help us reach that goal. The amazing
thing about the Eliminate Project is that even a little bit of change can have such a tangible and substantial
impact on the lives of mothers and children throughout the world. Through a joint effort, I believe that MNT
can and will be eliminated by 2015! Raise awareness throughout your communities and fundraise! Whether
you and your club organize a movie night, Dance to Elimin8, Skate to Elimin8, potluck, or even a food sale,
EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! It’s really amazing how far a little bit of effort, enthusiasm, and shameless pro-
motion can go – especially when we’re talking about passionate and serving Key Clubbers! If you ever need
help with a fundraiser or have any questions regarding the Eliminate Project, please do not hesitate to contact
of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Never get
discouraged, because even $1.80 could change a mother’s and child’s life forever. Key Clubbers have a won-
derful opportunity to make a huge impact on the world. Go out there and make PNW proud!
In love and service,
Dorothy Wang

66TH ANNUAL
Kiwanis Family Festival The Abbotsford and Clearbrook Kiwanis clubs
have teamed up to host the Kiwanis Family Festi-
val! Some of you may have attended last year’s
day of fun and will remember the amazing
booths and performances put on by members of
our community. This year, there will also be a Bi-
cycle Rodeo and a Dog Show. The Bicycle Ro-
deo will consist of police officers showing young
kids how to safely ride their bicycles on the road.
For the latter portion of the day, dogs will be re-
warded for special tricks and cool aspects about
them. (Loudest Bark, Cutest Cuddle, etc.)
What you can do to help!
Come to Mill Lake at 9am to help set-up for the
day. We need dog show judge and people to
help the policemen with their presentations!
Join us for a day of fun and service!
