Hello everyone! School’s finally started! I hope you’re all as excited for a new year of service as I am. I’m confident that your clubs can come back stronger than last year and ready to raise money for Eliminate and other charities. Club growth is also very im- portant, so I hope you have been focusing on attracting new members. I’m very much looking forward to what you all are capable of, and I couldn’t have asked for a better year to start with my division. Finally, it goes without saying that you can talk to me if you need help with anything. -Matthew Gendreau [email protected] Contents Page 1 Lt. Hello everyone!

School’s finally started! I

hope you’re all as excited

for a new year of service as I

am. I’m confident that your

clubs can come back

stronger than last year and

ready to raise money for

Eliminate and other charities.

Club growth is also very im-

portant, so I hope you have

been focusing on attracting

new members. I’m very

much looking forward to

what you all are capable of,

and I couldn’t have asked

for a better year to start with

my division. Finally, it goes

without saying that you can

talk to me if you need help

with anything.

Lieutenant Governor’s Message

Do not forget to send monthly reports!

These are one of the most important

things your club can do for me. Even if

your club hasn’t done much yet, it’s better

to leave it blank than to not send it at all!

Make sure to send in your club’s contact

information! If you are a president, I’ll

also be needing your phone number so I

can arrange a phone call later this month.

Thanks to those who came

to the Division Council Meet-

ing on the 14th! While we

may have had a much

smaller group than the May

DCM, I’m very glad I was

able to meet and share in-

formation with some of you.

Look forward to another one

the first weekend of Novem-

ber! Expect a full report of

Sunday’s DCM soon.

Updates + Information

Contact Information

Please send me the contact infor-

mation for all of your club’s mem-

bers! This was due a long time ago,

and many clubs are still very late.

This is all extremely important, as I

need this information to be able to

include your club in division/district

operations and update you on the

state of the division. Forms can be

found on the division website.

Division Mascot

We have decided on a Division

Mascot for D13! Our mascot will be

a “Mockingcrab” (they described it

as a Mockingjay from the Hunger

Games combined with the Capital

Crab). Look forward to division t-

shirts featuring this mascot soon!

Youth Opportunities Fund KOTIO

Governor Anastasia’s project for

this year of service is called KO-

TIO, which stands for Key Club

Outreach To Include Others. Her

goal is to extend help to disabled

individuals by participating in ser-

vice projects for different organiza-

tions such as Aktion Club, KEEN,

Best Buddies, Easter Seals, and

Miracle League. Your club can par-

ticipate by partaking in any sort of

event that benefits individuals liv-

ing with disabilities.

Patriot PAWS

Have any good ideas for a service

project, but lack the money? Have

you or your club apply for the

Youth Opportunities Fund, where

you can be granted from $100-

$2000 for your project. Keep in

mind your club will have to foot the

bill and be reimbursed later, alt-

hough the International Board is

planning to discuss an option to be

paid up front. Apply HERE, or

watch Trustees Gary Cheng and

Shane Meyers’ webinar on the topic

HERE.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

At the recent DCM, we had a won-

derful speaker give a presentation

on a charity organization called Pa-

triot PAWS. I would like to hold a

breakfast early next year as a divi-

sion project to benefit this charity,

and I also want to challenge you all

to hold at least fundraiser for this

organization as well. Please learn

more at patriotpaws.org. Also be

sure to contact me if you want any

informational materials.

With Halloween approaching very

quickly, consider doing a related

service project to help support

UNICEF and the Eliminate Pro-

ject. You and your club can collect

money door-to-door, hold a

themed dance or party, or other

similar events. You can find more

information here: http://goo.gl/

Upcoming Events

FALL RALLY October 3-5 2014 October 18 2014

There will be another Key Leader week-

end this fall at the West River Center in

Churchton, Maryland! I attended the last

one in Williamsburg, and I am planning on

attending this one too! Key Leader is a tru-

ly life-changing experience where you

can meet Key Clubbers from across the

district and learn about how you can bet-

ter yourself and become a better leader.

While I was there, I had an incredible

amount of fun and made tons of new

friends. I highly recommend that you con-

sider signing up, and I hope to see you in

Maryland! You can register and pay

online on the Key Leader website.

ICON 2015

Come join the District for an exciting day at

King’s Dominion! We’ll be arriving early to help

set up for a quick program, and then you’re off

to explore and have fun with your fellow Key

Club members! This is a great opportunity to

bring friends who are not sure about joining Key

Club and convince them to join the Capital Dis-

trict family! The cost of this trip will be $35 for any-

one who registers with the district. A flyer will be

attached to this email and you can find the reg-

istration form here: http://goo.gl/eR8UBP

International Convention 2015 will be in Indian-

apolis, Indiana from June 25th to June 28th! This

will be an extremely fun and significant conven-

tion, as all three of the brances of the K-Family

(Key Club, Circle K, Kiwanis) will be having their

ICON there at the same time in honor of Kiwanis’

100th anniversary! Stay tuned for more infor-

mation.
