YEAR 3-4 NEWS
NEWS FROM DIGITAL TECH. Year 5 & 6 have been working in the garden over the past couple of weeks. They have been looking at ways that we can be more sustainable. Week 3 had them helping construct a greenhouse. They had to measure pipes and timber to fit in parts of the structure, to give it strength. Mr Boyd gave them their instructions and demonstrated how to use the necessary tools. He kept everyone very busy and safe.

SECONDARY SNAPSHOT What a great two weeks we are having. The Medieval Banquet and Landcare tree planting were great activities organised for our students. 7/8 Medieval Banquet On Tuesday the Year 7/8 History class participated in a Medieval Banquet. Students dressed in costumes that depicted characters in the feudal system (nobles, knights, peasants and clergy). We ate a three course meal consisting of: Entrée – leek and cabbage pottage (soup) with
fresh bread Main – roast pork, chicken and an assortment of
roast vegetables Dessert – a selection of custard and lemon tarts. We drank apple cider and nibbled on fruits, nuts, cheese and ham. Medieval music played in the background and Boyd came and showed/explained different weapons that were used in medieval Europe, as our ‘fire’ crackled in the distance. We were reminded of how different life was at this time for people in the different classes. We would not have liked to have been the hard working peasants at the time, but rather the brave knights and entitled noble men and women. (More photos next few pages…) Ag Studies This week is Landcare Week and to celebrate this, the high school Ag Studies students were involved in a tree planting activity on the school grounds. Their job was to dig the holes, plant the trees and backfill with potting mix to aid in the successful establishment of the trees. Landcare Week aims to create awareness in schools and communities and encourages them to take an active role in protecting their local environment. The planting of the native Queensland bottle trees (Brachychiton Rupestris) at the southern end of the oval will create a shady area, attract native birds and also create a windbreak on the southern corner of the oval. Thank you to Boyd Hopkins in assisting with this activity.

Year 9 have been working on Network Topologies – how networks are set up and linked together. They named and created some topologies, by using wool. We also had some helpers from the 5-6 class to make up the numbers. They had to demonstrate a ring network, a star network, a tree network and a bus network. A break in the wool was a great way to explain what happens when part of a network breaks or fails.
To ensure student lunches are available on time, please help us by doing the following things…
Orders to be placed before 9am 1st and 2nd break lunch orders are placed in separate bags Lunch bags need to be clearly marked with name of child/

students know if they will be receiving any change) (change will be sent home with child in a zip lock bag) Please remind your child/ren if they are getting ice-blocks or
