Port-o-Gym is a portable building designed by re-inventing the structure of previous existing rigid building to be portable. The chosen building is a gymnasium in Univeritas Indonesia. Making a portable structure means that the structure should be easy-essambled and the pieces are easy to move.
Port-o-gym2013 | Academic | Architecture Design Studio 4
PORTABLE CONSTRUCTIONEvery joinery are designed to be easily assembled and non-permanent join. Steel frame with bolt joint construction is used in whole structure to achieve portability. The size of each part is also measured to be easily moved by truck.
STEP-BY-STEP CONSTRUCTIONThe structure consists of 4 main parts. Those parts are essambled as follows: legs, tops, spectators bench, and tensile covers. Port-o-gym can be set as desired. The spectators bench and the tensile covers can be put off if it is not used..

Splash of Relax is a relaxation space designed using typology-design-method. The presedences are thermal baths and spa houses that accommodate relaxation activity. From the precedence studies, it is found that relaxation spaces offer various kind of experiences that are spread but blending without disturbing each other. Study about splash ,as the keyword, brings the form.
Splash of Relax
In the precedences studies, spa houses and thermal baths are used to find the main point of relaxation activity and relaxation space. The tracing of the movement of visitors is the intention. The tracing of the movement of visitors shows that the relaxation space consist of several different experiences that are spread, blend, and seperated one another. It also shows that the activity of relaxation is subjective, according to visitors ’ desire to choose certain experience.
PRESEDENCES STUDIESSplash consists of object (water), action (contact), and reaction (splash). It works similiar to relaxation typology.
Model studies are developed by transforming word ‘splash’ into spatial model. The final form is created by connecting modules, developed from model studies, with the vision to achieve the relaxation typology that is multi-experience space..

M Walk is a wide-span structure building that covers the main bus station in Blok M area. It connects 6 places around the bus station. The idea is to create an iconic building using wide-span structure. Analyzing buildings in the surroundings became the first step in the design process.
M Walk
MASS DEVELOPMENTMass development is done by considering connectivity, movement, size of the space, green area, sustainibility, and structure.
WIDE SPAN STRUCTUREThe structure is designed to create a distinct physical looks that differ M Walk to the other building.
ICONICBeing Iconic means being distinct among the surroundings. To achieve it, there should be an action towards the presence of competi-tors around the site. Invading by connecting them is the action chosen.

MASS DEVELOPMENTMass is developed to achieve pressing-rotating program. The additional 2nd floor is added to give more space for the community. More people use warung space, more interaction will occur.
Imah Cai means Water House. This house uses water as the main trigger for the design. The existence of swimming pool, as dominating water space, is highlighted by exposing it to the other rooms in the house through the void. By then, the void becomes the central life of Imah Cai.

So that, through this void, music room can be seen from the other room. It creates a performance stage experi-ence.

The brief of the competition is to design a modular house. In this project, module is defined as modules that are arranged to create the building mass. The first thing popped out in mind when hearing the word ‘module’ is tetris, a game that uses blocks as module.

STACKING THE MODULES
FITTING TO SITE
Each type of tetris modules represents each group of activities in the house according to size and space requirements of each activities.
The exploration is done by stacking the four modules into one mass. In this phase, the connection between modules becomes the main thing to be considered.
The modules are stacked to fit the plot ratio. One module is put upright to decrease the ground floor area. And then modules are rotated to be the respond to the sun exposure. The modules are resized to fit the activities inside the modules and cut by the boundaries of the site. Final steps are materializing the boundaries and creating openings considering privacy, light, and air flow.

MAXIMIZING NATURAL LIGHTINGAND AIRFLOWThis house is made with openings in various side of this house, from the back to the front and from the bottom to the top. All openings are placed in certain place and direction to capture enough sunlight and to let the air flows well. Greeneries are also placed in the front, back, and on the rooftop to increase the air quality.
MASS DEVELOPMENTMass is arranged to make every unit can get enough sunlight. It is achieved by giving atrium in the center of the mass. Public and green spaces are created by shifting each level. Green areas are connected each other between blocks. Parking area and retail area are located in the basement. So that, ground floor can be fil led by all kind of social activity.
Eye housing is an Affordable Housing that tries to offer good quality living for the residents. In this Eye Housing, residents are given green area in front of each unit that is functioned as not only green area but also public spaces.

Rumah cerobong (chimney house) is a fisherman house that considers family living and fish production. The connection between units are important as a fisherman community. Also, the unlimited amount of wind on the shore is used for generating energy for house.
FISH DRYING MECHANISMThe rooftop is the best place to dry fish because of the huge amount of sunlight exposure. A pulley that pulled by an engine is applied in order to move fish rack from the ground level to the rooftop through a fish-rack-size chimney that built in the center of the house. To use less energy, a windwill installed on the top of the chimney to generate electricity using wind energy.
