The property is located immediately north of Riokaby Township on
the Kaby Lake claim map in the Beardmore-Geraldton District of the
Thunder Bay, Ontario mining division. The property lies *fO tans,
northeast of the town of Beardmore, Ontario and is l km. east of
the 0*Niel Lake road. The property can be reached by travelling a
network of logging roads.
The latitude and longitude are ^9* and 51 minutes, and 8?* and 32
minutes, respectively. The NTS references are 42E/123 and 14.
The resident geologists are John Mason and Gerry White. They can
be reached ati Telephone: (80?) 475-1105i Paxi (80?) 475-1112.
The mining claims are situated in the Kaby Lake Area, map G~59* in
the Beardmore-Geraldton District.
GEOLOGYi
The property takes in the North portion of the Kaby Lake Stock and
consists of intermediate to felsic metavoloanic rocks and mafic
metavolcanic rocks.
WORK DONEt
Several days of traditional prospecting were done before locating
some extremely old trenches in the souther-most part of claim #1209^79.
Hand tool cleaning of parts of the old trenches showed quartz viewing
and mineralization. A trail was cleared out for the backhoe to gain
access. The backhoe stopped on claim #1209^76 and was used to enlarge
the previously stripped area to the south of the exposed quartz vein.
...2
- 2 -
The backhoe was moved through claim #1209*477 and to the southerly
part of claim #1209^79 where it was used to clean out and enlarge
the old trenches located while prospecting.
Upon completion of the machine work and hand cleaning the rook,
several locations were chosen for sampling.
Samples were taken for assay* cleaned, bagged and labeled.
Several more days were spent prospecting the east half of claim
#1209^77. No outcrops were located.
RESULTSt
This years program resulted in access being achieved south to the
very southermost part of the claim block.
Assaying of the samples taken indicated that there was gold in the
quartz and in the host rock.
The values, although not being overly high* are sufficient to warrant
more exploration.
RECOMMENDATIONSt
The gold assays obtained from this years program yielded sufficient
values to warrant further exploration in and around the trenches
sampled. The fact that the host rook also carries pyrite and some
gold values, leaves open the possibility of large tonnage. The
course grained gabbro assayed for any of the platinum group minerals
were extremely low, however, the environment is ideal for further
sampling and study.
...3
- 3 -
I recommend that further prospecting be done In an attempt to obtain
a better picture of the course diorite/gabbro thats hosting the
quartz veinst the pyrite and the gold values. Further sampling
for the platinum group minerals should be done as the environment
is excellent for an occurrence of these minerals.
