Theme“Eco-friendly livestock production for sustainable agriculture”
BackgroundLivestock production is one of the largest contributors to climate change. In addition to greenhouse
gases production, livestock sector increase deforestation due to expansion of pasture land and arable landused to grow feed crops. Mitigating the livestock sector’s contributions to climate change is crucial forsustainable agriculture. Technical solution such as reformulation of ruminant diets to reduce entericfermentation and some methane emissions can be undertaken. Other solutions may be proposed byresearchers to support the sustainable livestock farming, from the aspect of feed, genetics, physiology, socio-economic, environment, etc.
Objectives1. To provide a perspective and insight into environmentally friendly livestock production for sustainableagriculture.2. To discuss the solutions on mitigatingthe livestock’scontributions to climate change.3. To provide a forum in order to exchange information and ideas on eco-friendly livestock production system.
