OARS
The shaft of an oar receives a lot of
attention at Croker Oars. We invest
many hours into designing, developing,
and trialling our products and believe
our range of shafts give every rower an
opportunity to match their skill level with
what they want to feel in the water.
Before assembly each shaft is deflected,
weighed and matched to its identical
partner to give you the best pair of oars
possible.
Contact us regarding your abilities and
we will offer suggestions for a shaft we
believe would be best suited to you.
SCULLING SHAFTS/OARS
All oars at Croker Oars are custom made to order. Each shaft is individually tested for stiffness and weight.
They are made to suit each individual and each individual has different needs.
SCULLING Oars
sculling // Product Guide 5
S39 ARROW Series - Small diameterThese shafts are made using high modulus carbon, recently used in the Americas Cup boats.
They have multiple layers of thin carbon plies at various angles to achieve a balance of strength, stiffness, torsional stiffness and very light weight. These thin shafts have less aerodynamic drag
than normal shafts and because they weigh less have less rotational inertia.
Shaft Type Weight Usage Blade Handle
S39 Soft 1240gm
These thin shafts are designed for highly competitive lightweights, juniors, women and masters who demand the finest and lightest sculling oars in the world. Ideal for athletes with 2km erg scores slower than 7:00, water times in the 1x around 7:45 or slower for 2km. These shafts are fitted with the new Arrow Sculling Blade. This high performance blade is the latest development from Croker Oars. It is designed for athletes who want the best and exhibit good technique.

S39 1250gm
These thin shafts are designed for world class, elite level and highly competitive openweight athletes who seek an uncompromising sculling oar, the ultimate tool for propulsion on the water. Scullers with 2km erg scores faster than 6:45 and water times in the 1x faster than 7:30 for 2km are well matched to the stiffness of the S39. These shafts are fitted with the new Arrow Sculling Blade. This high performance blade is the latest development from Croker Oars. It is designed for athletes who want the best and exhibit good technique.

OARS SCULLING Shafts
S7 SeriesThese shafts use multiple layers of thin carbon plies at various angles, to achieve a balance of
strength, stiffness and torsional stiffness. Standard diameter shafts.
Shaft Type Weight Usage Blade Handle
S7 Soft 1400gm
These full carbon shafts are the traditional Croker diameter, but incorporate the materials and techniques now utilised in our Arrow shafts. The shafts have superior torsional stiffness compared to the S4 models, but the deflection under load is comparable. With a slightly more forgiving introduction to the full load at the catch, the S7 Soft is appropriate for rowers below the standards for the regular stiffness S7, or those preferring a little more flex. As with all of our elite soft shafts, it is well matched to scullers with 2km erg scores slower than 7:00, water times in the 1x around 7:45 or slower for 2km, or for those who desire a slightly more forgiving feel at the catch.

S7 1400gm
With superior torsional strength over the S4, these full carbon shafts incorporate the materials and techniques now utilised in our Arrow shafts. The S7 is appropriate for elite level scullers seeking more torsional security than offered by the S4 regular full carbon shafts. It is well matched to scullers with 2km erg scores faster than 6:30 and water times in the 1x faster than 7:30 for 2km.

sculling // Product Guide 7
S4 SeriesThese shafts are full carbon shafts made using various layers of standard modulus carbon. They
achieve a balance of maximum strength and minimum weight.
Shaft Type Weight Usage Blade Handle
S4 Soft 1300gm
These 100% carbon shafts exhibit crisper catches and allow higher rating than our elite level S2 Soft models. They are ideal for juniors, women, as well as men below the pre-elite level. It is also a popular choice for smaller elite openweight women racing the single scull. It is well matched to scullers with 2km erg scores slower than 7:00, water times in the 1x around 7:45 or slower for 2km, or for those who desire a slightly more forgiving feel at the catch.
