Day One

Day TwoEnjoy a scenic mountain drive into the rainforest where you’ll arrive at the Sarapiqui River. Board your boat as you cruise through the rainforest. You’ll witness tropical birds, monkeys, lizards, miniature bats, and caiman. Later, arrive at your rain forest jungle lodge. Prior to dinner, enjoy a walk along the self-guided jungle trails.

Day ThreeParticipate in a unique chocolate interaction. Experience the chocolate-making process first-hand. Taste organic rainforest chocolate!

Following lunch, consider a popular option to Hacienda Pozo Azul for a zip line adventure. Each ride has double cable. The tour ends with a 330 ft. line that crosses the Sarapiqui River Canyon. This costs an extra $65.

Day FourVisit a pineapple plantation. Learn about the history and cultivation as you witness all phases of pineapple growth, from sowing to harvest.

Then off to Arenal, Costa Rica’s most active volcano. Relax in a hot springs and swim in one of nature’s therapeutic pools. Transfer to Rancho Lodge to meet your host family.

HomestayRancho de Español is located in the countryside community of La Guacima, Alajuela. Your host families are relatives, neighbors, or lifelong friends of our homestay directors. In fact, many host families are related to one another. Regardless, all families are monitored and continually evaluated. Everyone speaks Spanish in the home. Rancho serves as the meeting point and social center for all activities. The park-like grounds feature a swimming pool, volleyball, and soccer.

Day Five

See a working plantation and roastery of Costa Rican coffee. Learn how experts test and grade the characteristics that qualify for a gourmet coffee.

Visit Moravia, a popular craft center. Enjoy shopping for souvenirs for your family and friends.

Day SixParticipate in service learning. Visit a local school, orphanage or day care center. CNHS requires all students to participate in service learning during their high school years. What a great way to earn your time than to help others!

Day Seven

Visit Manuel Antonio Park. Explore the trails and wildlife and spend the entire afternoon at the beautiful white-sand beach!

How to Obtain a Passport

Passports - Read what you will need. Has all the info. (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports.html)

Go to US Post Office with your paperwork, and they will take your picture and send all necessary documents to US Gov.

Payments

• $350 by May 5 to • $500 by October 1• $500 by December 1 (Middle payment)• $815 by April 1 with copies of the passport

• Monies fully refundable until Dec. 1, 2014.
