Because we have had such a long delay since our last
Crossbeam, I am making a fresh start with the prayer
list. All the prayer requests listed here have been
made since April 15, 2020. This leaves off some
people who have been on the list for some time, and
maybe still need to be on.
If you have a friend or loved one who has been
dropped, but still needs prayers, please send me an

THE CROSSBEAM
Dear Friends in Christ,
We have a lot to be thankful for! For that reason, over the last couple
weeks I have often heard the refrain of a catchy hymn in my mind: “Count
your many blessings, name them one by one; count your many blessings,
see what God has done.” As I count the many ways God has blessed our
congregation recently, at the top of the list are the two amazing people we
are hiring as staff members to lead and grow some of our most important
ministries.
Starting July 1, Jamie Manzi-Moore will transition to become the NEW Director of Music
and Worship Ministry.
Then, starting August 3, Jenna Trenbeath will join the staff as the NEW Director of Children
and Family Ministry.
Plans are coming together for Jenna and Jamie to be officially installed in their new roles
during worship this August – likely Sunday, August 2. Please watch for this announcement
and plan to join us that day to CELEBRATE, thank God for their callings, and ask God’s
continued blessing on our shared ministry through their gifts and leadership among us.
The thought of this good news fills my mind with another refrain, this time from Philippians,
“Rejoice in the lord always. I will say I it again: Rejoice! …Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God.” To that end, please join me now in singing or saying one more well-known prayer of
thanksgiving in the words of the Doxology:
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. AMEN.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Erik
FOUR CORE SERVICE PARTNERS
Mission Partner Spotlight: Sheridan Story
Sheridan Story was founded to ensure that students from families with food insecurity had access to meals over
the weekend. As a result of COVID-19 and the recent damage to grocery stores in south Minneapolis, the need
for food has only intensified. Sheridan Story has been at the forefront of ensuring that food is available to
communities in need. From March 13-May 13, Sheridan Story delivered more than 1 million meals which is the
equivalent to what they usually provide in an entire year.
CCLC is the sponsor for meals for students at Olson Elementary, and we made a commitment to contributing
$3,010 to Sheridan Story this year. We did not have the opportunity to have an in-person “Sheridan Story
Sunday” as part of our worship this spring, so we are reaching out to you now asking you to make a special
donation to support their work during this critical time. You can help CCLC meet its pledge by writing a check
to CCLC and marking “Sheridan” in the memo line or donate online through the give button on our website and
choosing Sheridan Story in the To field.
UPDATE: Ways CCLC can jump in to help our community in this time of need!
The CCLC Church Council wants to remind you of the importance of helping our neighbors in need. At their
June meeting, the Council took the following actions supporting the work of our Four Core Service Providers:
$1000 to VEAP – from the general fund
$905 to Oasis for Youth – from the dedicated fund
$764 to Sheridan Story – from the general fund to make up the remainder on our pledge
$2000 to Tapestry in February—annual budget item from general fund
What Can You Do? Monetary Donations can be made on our website by clicking on the give button at the top of each page.
Pick the organization in the To drop down.
Volunteer - There are shifts available for volunteers to pack food. For VEAP—go to veap.org and
volunteer and/or for Sheridan Story, go to thesheridanstory.org and click on get involved.
Shop on Amazon—Oasis for Youth always has a wish list to make shopping easy.
Follow each group online to keep updated on their needs!
