Looking back at CISCFFs inaugural year,

we have a lot to be proud of...

CISCFFs Impact

Ru and The Price of Sex were two of the 60 lms featured during last

years festival. Because of the platform created by the festival, these powerful

lms, and the action opportunities provided after showing them, inspired CIS-

CFF attendees came together to do their part to make a difference.

Specically, through the movie Ru, attendees got a chance to walk in the

shoes of a twelve year old girl in South Sudan who walked two miles, three

times a day, through treacherous terrain and communities so that she could

get the fresh water her family needed to survive. After the movie ended,

and our journey with the young girl concluded: discussions began. Attendees

discussed how common this girls hardships were with the lmmakers and

representatives of an organization called Water Is Basic. After being inspired

by the lm, and further educated by the discussion, people decided to give

enough to ensure that more wells would be built so fewer girls have to endure

the dangers and hardships that young girls like her faced simply because of lack

of access to clean water.

Similarly, through the The Price of Sex, CISCFF attendees got a chance to see

life through the eyes of women who were ripped from their homes as children

and forced to sell their bodies well into their adulthood. After learning of the

atrocities these -and millions of other- women endure, many felt compelled to

act to end sex trafcking by helping to create awareness of the phenomenon

by telling others about the lm and donating via priceofsex.org.
