CHINOOK Volume 20, Issue 1 Newsletter of the Chinook-Calgary Section September 2017 AACEI Chinook-Calgary Newsletter – September 2017 1 President’s Message Welcome everyone to the 2017/2018 season of AACE Calgary Chinook section. I can’t believe how fast the summer has flown by, and I hope this newsletter finds everyone refreshed after spending some much needed family time away from work and school, enjoying the glorious summer weather. I am honored to hold the President role this year, and together with my peers, we are working hard to deliver a jammed pack season of fresh, new, and innovative topics & workshops to the membership. This past June I had the pleasure of representing Chinook Calgary section, attending the AACEI’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida. It was great to share conversation, ideas, and brainstorm with my peers ways in which we can help our global membership gain the most out of what AACE has to offer. What I was able to gain was insight into what other sections are doing to help their local members learn and grow. As many of you know, oil prices are forecasted to remain low, and that is having a negative impact to both our Calgary economy, but also to those all-important jobs for our membership. Our main focus for the upcoming season is to ensure we are providing the tools, information, workshops, and networking that will provide you, our members, avenues in which to not only build your technical skills but hopefully provide you with opportunities to connect, share, and build new professional relationships across the Calgary job sector. Our work over the summer has been building out a strong Technical Dinner meeting series, looking for new and exciting topics that bring fresh conversation and topic areas that are outside of our historical Oil and Gas features. AACEI Chinook Calgary section has always been run on the philosophy of “by the members, for the members”, and this year is no different. Please continue to engage with us, reaching out to myself or other board members with feedback and suggestion on how to keep improving and enhancing the performance of our section. In closing, I am excited about the program we have put together this year, and I look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming events, starting with our September Dinner Meeting on Wednesday, September 20 th (more information on page 4, including date, time, and registration information) Eileen Doonan President, AACEI Chinook-Calgary Section [email protected]Eileen Doonan President, AACEI Chinook-Calgary Section
