Community”
Annette Loritz, Chair
Autumn Greetings!
A sure sign of fall is the annual Lisle Ale Fest, I hope you were able to attend this first taste of fall! Mark your calendars for
Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event on November 1st.
As the air turns crisper and our family focus turns to autumn activities,
finding spooky Halloween costumes or binge-watching scary movies, it’s
interesting to think of how much we embrace fear this time of year. The
heart-pounding thrill of October fun has lessons many of us can learn
from. Our own apprehension can stop us in our tracks, and prevent us
from personal and professional growth. Leaning into discomfort is the
catalyst for moving us away from where we are now. By stepping outside
of your professional routine, and seeking opportunities out of your
comfort level, you’ll be leaning past what is holding you from the next
thrilling adventure. Inevitably, these activities lead us to things that are
good for personal growth, your company and community. So go ahead,
take the lead on projects, head a committee or volunteer to speak at the
next presentation. What you thought was uncomfortable can be just as
good as a caramel apple.
The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce has several activities and network-
ing events to help engage you, your business and the community! Join us
for networking at the Business After Hours hosted by Boyce Chiropractic
and celebrate ribbon cuttings at Kristina Irvine – john greene Realtors and
Brammeier Family Dental! Attend a meeting to support the Lisle Area
Chamber, including the Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K, Government Affairs,
LINCT-Leadership in Networking Committee Team or the Ambassador,
Dinner Dance or Lisle Uncorked committees. There are numerous
opportunities to be involved this month. I hope to see you at one of these
events.

CHAMBER NEWS
We hosted our member appreciation lunch/ribbon cutting
in September at our new office space. Over 100 members
attended this year and there was some great networking
going on. Thank you fellow members, Aurelio’s Pizza
Woodridge, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Naperville, Paisan’s
= Pizzeria & Bar, Lisle, Culvers Downers Grove/Lisle,
DoubleTree by Hilton Lisle for the great food donations.
The Lisle Ale Fest was another successful event (even with a bit of rain) in
downtown Lisle near the beautiful PrairieWalk Pond. Thank you to Tom
Reif, Lisle Ale Fest Committee Chair, Lou Dog Events, and the Lisle Ale Fest
Committee. Thank you, Claudine Rummer for all your long hours preparing
and working this event.
I am preparing for our New Member Reception in which new members, Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Ambassadors attend. We share
all of the opportunities available to our new members including the many
committees they can join. I would like to reiterate your benefits available
with your membership. The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce offers many
ways to showcase your businesses through sponsorships of Chamber
events, Ribbon Cuttings, Business After Hours, Multi-Chamber Luncheons
and Expos. We offer job posts and community event posts on our website.
We also offer scholarships to high school seniors, a free membership
appreciation picnic, and luncheons with guest speakers to help you grow
your business. We have a Government Affairs Committee that also brings in
guest speakers. We will be hosting two separate Round Table Discussions in
lieu of our Government Affairs Committee meetings featuring Congressman
Sean Casten and State Representative Terra Costa Howard. Our LINCT
group, Leadership in Networking Committee Team, meets twice a month.
Their format is changing to the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of the month. The
first meeting of the month will change to mornings. Did you know we have
a Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce App? We do with our partnership with
Daily Herald/Town Square Publications. Go to the app store on your phone
and type “Lisle Area Chamber” in the search bar. Click on the app to down-
load and open. Download it today; this is one more way your business is
being seen. We have an online directory, app, door-to-door delivered direc-
tory, and community profile. All of these benefits help add to your Search
Engine Optimization when the public is looking for a business. A Lisle Area
Chamber membership adds credibility to your business, professional
development, business education partnerships with Benedictine University,
National Louis, College of DuPage, and Universal Technical Institute,
business advocacy, marketing opportunities, economic development,
connections, community development, government relations and more.
Bring your children to Downtown Main Street Lisle on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm to take part in the Downtown Lisle
Trick-or-Treat event. You’ll get some great treats.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT - Kristina Irvine
This month’s featured Ambassador is Kristina Irvine. Kristina is a broker with john greene Realtors. She
has been involved with the Lisle Area Chamber for about 5 months and she feels that they have been
5 really fun months. In addition to being involved with the Ambassador Committee, Kristina is also on the
Ale Fest, Golf Outing and Lisle Uncorked Committees. Kristina is a Broker with john greene Realtors and
she has been in the real estate field for 10 months. As a john greene Broker, Kristina helps people
navigate through one of the most stressful times in their lives...moving. Whether they are buying or
selling, she takes control of the process, while guiding them through making all their decisions. Real Estate
is something that she has wanted to do since she was 15. Kristina woke up with the courage to follow her
dream at the end of last year and she is so glad that she did. Kristina said, “The World is kind to you
when you are where you are supposed to be and the results that I have had have been a great indicator
that I made the right choice.”
Kristina’s passions are her work and karaoke, or singing anywhere else someone will let her. She has 2
nephews–one furry and one human-that take up the rest of her time. She enjoys everything that she gets to do with the Chamber. There is no doubt that being surrounded by great people wo are eager to pitch
in and serve the community will benefit her personally as well as professionally. Her favorite quote is by
Dr. Seuss, “Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you
right. Forget about the ones who don’t. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody
said it would be easy. They just promised that it would be worth it.”
