Liturgy Centre Catholic Diocese of Auckland Pentecost Sunday Year B May 23 rd Welcome before Mass: (Commentator) Tēnā Koutou katoa – Good morning and welcome! Today is Pentecost Sunday and we celebrate the fiftieth day since Jesus rose from the dead. Today we pray, ‘Lord send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth; send us, as disciples for your mission.’ We gather in a spirit of love and friendship. I extend the warmest welcome to you as we come together in (…parish name …). Let us be still for a moment as we prepare to celebrate this Eucharist. (20 seconds – stay at microphone). Welcome! Let us sing together. Prayer of the Faithful – For the Church – that we the baptized will be inspired by the Holy Spirit and engage vibrantly with the mission of Christ, being keepers of the word and builders of communities of love and justice. (Silence) Reader: E te Ariki All: Whakarongo mai rā ki a mātou. For leaders of nations – that they will preserve the rich heritage of diverse cultures, and protect them from the homogenizing effect of consumerism and materialism. (Silence) Reader: E te Ariki All: Whakarongo mai rā ki a mātou. For the world and especially for Jerusalem and the holy land – that war, conflict and violence will give way to reconciliation and cooperation and that there will be peace among nations. For the nation of India – that in the face of rampant pandemic and violent storm, it will find encouragement in the generous support of other peoples and nations. For families – that the fruits of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control will form the shape of family life for all families.
