To compare my anamatic successfully I looked at Brian Postman’s storyboards on YouTube who had just recently finished the storyboard for ‘My Week With Marilyn’ and had uploaded past ones, I found this horror idea more intriguing and it was the genre my trailer is based on. Once I watched it I noticed multiple differences ranging from detail and the quality of the images but also the transitions. The detail of images make this look more professional which mine lacks in areas. Although the example shows a lot more detail I still feel they both aim to do the same thing: create a storyboard that emphasises the genre and narrative.

I looked at the film website for ‘Shank’ to compare with that of my own ‘Black Crow Woods’. Both websites stripped down has the same basic fundamentals that make any website. From the central image to social networking links. I think both work in promoting a film of their genre and by focusing clearly on what they want. For Shank that’s the characters and on mine it’s the simple face of the antagonist. From an audiences perspective I would say Shank is more professional in terms of being able to use all of the space given on the websites template where as my template didn’t allow me to do that. I think having the same house style on both has helped them work.

In terms of my blog itself I’ve compared it with The Guardian’s ‘Film Blog’ a highly established thread that gets thousands of readers. Both blogs have differences as The Guardian’s give film critics point of reviews of films in the cinema whereas mine is discussing my progress over the two years in Media. They have an image:text ratio that both balances out to keep the readers interested and make it not seem text heavy. If I was to change everything I would do this more as although over time my work has improved my blog started out quite text heavy; to then break this up I inserted ‘prezis’ and ‘slideshares’. Due to the fact that they are different purpose I think both blog work well in their own situations. Mine shows of my analytical skills whereas The Guardian shows off it’s film knowledge. Both blogs work and would gain differing audiences.
