HOW WAS THIS PERSON SUCCESSFUL?

The blog that really caught my eye was Alfie Greens blog due to it being very modern, mature and fun to look at, at the same time. I also feel that he has taken time in choosing the design and layout for the blog, clearly taking time to explore Blogger and make it appealing to look at.

I feel the blog I looked at was extremely successful due to the use of different medias to present different aspects in their work, for example this person used video, voice, and different media’s to make the blog more interesting to read and so the viewer does not have to do constant reading. It also makes the blog look more appealing and professional due to the amount of skills presented to the examiner.

He has used Prezi instead of embedding a PowerPoint to vary his blog. Also making the Prezi brightly coloured.

INDIVIDUALITY

Alfie green has made a banner to make his blog more personal to him, conveying he has taken the time and effort to make his blog look appealing to the eye and present him as having an eye for design. This being the first thing the viewer of his blog sees, he has purposely made it eye catching to the viewer, including his own photography to convey his skills further, and also the actual skill of working the programme to make the banner. The banner also follows his housing style of the whole blog to make it more professional appearing and neat. Furthermore, you can see that Alfie has put unique tabs below the banner rather than labels to be unique and stand out, adding to the point of showing of his skills to the examiner.

LABELS

Alfie has included labels to divide his work and work as if it was a contents page, including links to different pages and posts. This is very accessible to viewers and readers due to them finding pages easier and knowing what category each post falls under.

RESEARCH LABEL

You can tell that Alfie takes interest around the subject in his research label due to his creative post of actually going into Whsmith to view magazines and see what they look like inside. By doing this he is proving that he wants to do well with the making of his magazine, like I would like to accomplish with my blog. It was not compulsory or asked by anyone to do this in his blog which also conveys that he is dedicated to the subject which is what I hope to convey within my blog.

Alfie has presented screenshots of his Survey task to give a visual interpretation to the reader of what the Survey looked like and what questions where included within the survey. By setting tasks out like this, it shows that it is appealing to the eye and enjoyable to read.

Alfie Green has included different kinds of social media. Twitter being one of them, he has dedicated a twitter account to Media to convey different kinds of branding to audiences. This is extremely unique and creative due to taking the time outside of class to produce this.

Again, it really emphasizes the fact that he is passionate about the subject and is interested in developing new ideas in which I would also like to prove within my blog. And posts.

PRODUCTION LOGS LABEL

In the high majority of Alfie’s production logs he constantly includes pictures with in them to give a visual image of what he has done in class that day. This makes the logs look less intimidating and easier to read and understand. The screenshots include the details of what programme he has been using in that lesson. Also, scrolling down, you can tell that Alfie takes a lot of time on his logs, due to them being very long and detailed to make it clear to the reader exactly what he has been doing through text which I hope to achieve. He has dated his production logs so it gives viewers an idea of when it was handed in etc.

However, in Alfie’s production logs he has not used a range of media, e.g. voice/video. He has only used text. I hope to use various amounts of media in my production logs to give further individuality and to convey more skills used.

PRELIMINARY TASK LABEL

On this section of Alfie’s blog he has kept it simple and tidy by only including the actual final task and the evaluation. I have noticed that he has not completed any planning in this section such as the process it took, fonts, pictures etc. whereas I would include all of this so viewers get an insight of exactly how I completed it and what steps had been taken to get to the finished product.

However, Alfie has included dates that it was posted and descriptions of each post and why they have posted it on their blog which I would like to achieve.

PLANNING LABEL

On the planning label, Alfie has included a lot of detail and each process he had taken to complete the final product. This thorough page conveys every last bit of planning detail to clearly convey to the viewer the steps he has been through. For example Alfie has produced a contact sheet with the pictures from his photo-shoot included to convey the process taken to produce the most important aspect of the magazine which are photo’s, I will definitely do this to show of my photography skills and convey professional photos. Also, Alfie has been creative yet again by photo shopping his logo on to a bus stop sign to convey what promotional methods he is hoping to use in a visual way. I hope to use this kind of creativity with in my Planning section to insure my blog is unique. Alfie’s mood board is also very creative due to having a modern, artistic, professional layout to it with unique pictures. He has also circled the images that he likes the most to convey the most important bits and show the most important bits of inspiration included.

EVALUATION LABEL

Alfie has presented his magazine in another form of media to make his magazine look presentable. As you can see, his layout of the magazine matches the title of the finished product and housing style due to Alfie keeping this unique aspect throughout this blog to stand out. I think that this is an extremely clever way of laying out the blog due to it reflecting on your own work and your own skills.

Also, you can tell the all Alfie's planning is relevant with the Evaluation label due to it all coming together and making sense to the viewer.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, I believe that Alfie Green’s blog is a perfect example of what a successful blog should look like, due to the individual housing style and also the fact that it conveys that he takes great interest in and around the subject. He has also included his own ideas such as using social media to convey ideas.

I think that this blog will inspire me, and reflect on how I present my work to the examiner and viewers.
