POLO
he name remains the same andso does the venue, but it’s allchange and a completely fresh
start at Bawtry Polo Club (BPC). Thereis a new team in charge and acompletely fresh approach, with the aimto attract more local interest in thisexciting, fast-paced sport.
BPC is a polo and events venue inMisson Springs, on the outskirts ofBawtry. They offer polo lessons, liveryand a vibrant, family-friendly socialscene, making it an ideal backdrop forpolo tournaments throughout theSpring/Summer season.
Following the closure of the previousclub last year, BPC have opened a newclub in the same location, with newpeople, new ponies and an entirely newethos.
Plans for BPC include having a highstandard of horse care, and welcomingclients into the polo family. Polo is anexciting sport with an equally enjoyablesocial scene off the pitch but the newcustodians of the sport in SouthYorkshire are determined nobody shouldfeel excluded.
“We want as much of a ‘coffee andcake’ culture as we do a ‘Pimms andParty’ scene,” they say.
This is a completely fresh start forBPC with no connection between thenew team in charge and the previousclubs. The club is being run by AmySallabank and Victoria Jarvie, whoformed a friendship through polo severalyears ago.
Amy has played and worked in polo allover the world and is an ambitious andcapable player. Her ample experiencerunning polo yards make her the idealperson to take up the mantle of BPC’spolo and yard manager.
Victoria has ridden all her life, including working with horses, but will
be utilising her background in marketingto establish a desirable and trustworthyBPC brand, liaising with sponsors andensuring the smooth running of events.
Marquee events for 2019 include VisitBawtry Polo Day (14 July) and a Ladies’Tounament (24-25 August) with variousother events planned. More details willbe available nearer the time.
If anyone wants to get involved, comealong to one of the events or book alesson or get in touch via the Facebookpage (Bawtry Polo Club), Instagram(BawtryPoloClub) or website(www.BawtryPoloClub.co.uk).
