2012.08.13 Summarized Minutes Camp Math – Sipnayan Schedules Due to heavy rains last week, the ExeCom decided to postpone the first day of Camp Math. In line with this, the discussion of Camp Math – Sipnayan Schedules focused on whether Camp Math be cut to three (3) days or Sipnayan-GS be held on the original schedule set for Sipnayan-HS. It has been resolved that Camp Math be cut to three (3) days, leaving Sipnayan’s schedule unchanged. Because of this, the registration fee for Camp Math was changed accordingly (From Php 1 000 to Php 800 per participant. Leadership Training Seminar (LTS) Updates Finance and Logistics The committee members wanted to stratify a member’s LTS fee depending on his/her participation in the said event. It has been suggested that ExeCom and participants will pay Php 1 000, while volunteers will pay Php 750. These amounts are however tentative. They also announced the schedule for the first and second ocular. Programs The committee reported their progress so far. They have already discussed the general topics of each day’s module (Data not disclosed). No progress has been reported regarding speakers and SLEs. However, the committee assured the ExeCom that they would update regarding these matters by late August to early September. Secretariat and Documentations & Promotions The promotional strategy for LTS release was discussed. Instead of making a video promotional material for it, personalized letters will be sent to all AMS members eligible to join. Idea Generation (iG) for Habagat Victims (Changed to IG for Disaster Victims) In light of the recent events (heavy rains due to Southwest monsoon), it has been suggested by the Executive Committee (ExeCom) that AMS have some sort of fund-raising for this cause. Some of the ideas for fund-raising were mostly Tutor Pool-related in the form of pledges from tutorial profits and Math worksheets to be sold. These suggestions were rejected because it is counterproductive to Tutor Pool’s goal. It has been resolved that instead of having funds raised in this manner we should have a Social Involvement Fund (SIF)– an idea passed from ExeCom 2011- 2012. Fund-raising through SIF is as easy as developing an advertisement campaign for a cause.

Leadership Training Seminar (LTS) Updates Finance and Logistics The committee members wanted to stratify a member’s LTS fee depending on his/her participation in the said event. It has been suggested that ExeCom and participants will pay Php 1 000, while volunteers will pay Php 750. President Updates The President updated the ExeCom about some requests from the Math Department and the Office of Admission and Aid (OAA), Alumni Relations, and Constitution Review. Requests The LS Math Department is asking the ExeCom if they can help the department in doing the recruitment video and in organizing the open house, which the department seeks to be revamped. It has been decided that the ExeCom will help the department in their endeavors by volunteering and deploying members to do tasks as directed by the department. The President has already sent to the Academics Department Heads a copy of OAA’s proposed system on tracking the activity of tutors (Early this semester, OAA tapped organizations that offer tutorial services to collaborate in these efforts. It has been proposed that earnings attributed to tutoring may be credited as service hours to tutors who are also scholars. Alumni Relations The President suggested that AMS could try to do something similar to ACTM’s Alumni Meet-up (some kind of individual consultations with alumni). The general sentiment of the ExeCom was that AMS might not be ready for this. An alumni party like Aurum (50th year celebration; December 2011) might be more feasible. Constitution Review The ExeCom is enjoined to read the Constitution to find some clauses that need ratification.

Special Projects Updates The Deputy for Special Projects (Special Projects) updated the ExeCom about Philippine Society of Mathematics Organizations (PSMO) meeting, and EnTaBLaDo tie-up. Special Projects reminded the ExeCom that the PSMO will have a meeting on Saturday (18 August 2012). Details of the postponed Confidence Building Seminar for TnT Pool, Pool of Hosts (PoH) and Marketing and Finance Associates (MaFiA) members are yet to be finalized. Special Projects will ask EnTaBLaDo if the seminar can be done on Friday (17 August 2012). PoH Head, Gabs Zamoranos, will reserve the venue for Friday’s event.

Documentations and Promotions (DP) Updates The Deputies for Documentations (Docu) and Promotions (Promo) updated the ExeCom about DP TrainSem. DP TrainSem has yet to be scheduled. It can either be held on 17 August or 22 August, since the target speakers are only free on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday. Infinity content for 13-17 August 2012 was discussed.
