No Staphylococcus was isolated from any of 4 samples of 4 cats. Four of the 5 strains isolated from dogs were methicillin-resistant CNS (MRCNS) and these tended to be resistant to various antimicrobial agents. Since MRCNS is problematic, such as causing postoperative infection, in the medical field, it may also be important for the veterinary field to comply the standard measures to prevent transmission of resistant bacteria.
