West Fork Beaver River, West Point, OH.

Constructed Sept. 2002

Minimal height Bendway Weirs in a gravel-cobble-sand-silt bed stream for

thalweg realignment & bank stabilization in the area of an exposed

high-pressure pipeline overbend.

Lisbon Inn 40952 State Route 154, Lisbon, OH

Functions of Bendway Weirs on the West Fork Beaver River: Main functions of the BW are to provide bank stabilization within the bend and realign the thalweg through the bend and center the thalweg where the pipeline overbend was exposed by erosion. The pipeline was directly protected with Submar’s patented Articulated Concrete Mattress (ACM) system.

Looking DS at the same 3 Bendway Weirs 5 years after construction. The well graded 18 to 24 inch stone in the BW has

held up well & the outer bank exhibits a flat slope & is stable.

Looking US at two low elevation Bendway Weirs, two years after construction,

05/11/2004. Outer bank is stable

SUB MAR

Five years after construction, 9/17/2007, looking US at the same two

low-elevation Bendway Weirs. Note stable flat sloped vegetated bank.

SUB MAR

Great aquatic habitat due to the deep pools created by the Bendway Weirs. These pools

were full of high quality fishes, indicating that water quality is excellent. {5 years after project

completion}
