Community information 2014 population est. 272,996 Lincoln, 301,795 Lancaster Co. Refugee resettlement community since 1983 Languages other than English used at home: 11.1 % ELL residents served by network of organizations

Project need Libraries are among the

first American institutions immigrants turn to for help in learning English

Many immigrants are unfamiliar with the benefits & responsibilities of public library use

New customers need a clear, accessible demonstration on obtaining a library card and available library resources

About the American Dream Grant Since 2007 166 libraries in 28 states One-time grant funding provides additional or improved

literacy services to adult English language learners & their families for expanded ELL collections, tutors, classes, and technology

$5k – $15k grants funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation

Our project goal:Welcome to Lincoln City Libraries! Create a video welcoming new users to their

public library system in their native language Add new materials for our literacy collection
