HAS seeks to improve fleet composition and management through one or more of the following:

Telematics for tracking vehicle utilization Track utilization and identify opportunities to right-size the fleet. Identify pooling potential and other vehicle-sharing opportunities between departments.

Outsourcing fleet maintenance Supplement or replace existing maintenance activities with on- or off-site resources.Reduce costs and vehicle downtime through performance standards.Reduce delay of obtaining parts and reduce costs of parts through third party purchasing power.

Vehicle / equipment leasingReduce total vehicle operating costs (procurement, operation, and maintenance).Reduce capital expenditures and associated procurement and budgeting administrative challenges. Reduce fleet age and thereby reduce fuel and maintenance costs.

ProcurementOptimize fleet to match HAS’ changing needs.Increase vehicle sale value by disposing at the most cost-effective age and time.Increase savings associated with large-scale acquisition (leasing or buying).Homogenize the make and model of the fleet within vehicle categories or functions.
