• Equivalent to 2,5 million USD spend (lecturer’s contracting).

• Based on awards and publications criteria (within 3 last years).

• 7 categories

-Excellence: Dir. or Subdir. Excellence awards -> 5% teaching time

-Leader: Regular FONDECYT PI or 2 p/y -> 10% teaching time

-Initiation: Initiation FONDECYT PI -> 10% teaching time

-Innovation: Innovation awards PI -> 10% teaching time

-Associate: Previous awards COI or 1 p/y -> 17% teaching time

-Formation: PhD or Postdoc newer than 2 years -> 12% teaching time

-Non researcher: Doesn’t match criteria -> 34% teaching time

How we use Pure to implement this?

• Uploading awards.

• Getting report of papers and awards.

• Creating labels to reflect the corresponding category.

• Giving access to Deans.

• Allowing Deans and researchers to add more information

(complementary).

• We created labels (keywords) in Pure to classify our academics.

• We obtained reports of research outputs (2015-2017 + 2018).

• We added missing papers, when notified.

• We are working to get an awards (grants) report.

Bonus payment

• It is an incentive given to every researcher that publish an indexed

research output under Universidad Andrés Bello affiliation, according to

the following criteria: WoS (Core Collection SCIE, SSCI and A&HCI) &

Scopus (since 2017).

• Article, review, conference paper and letter.

• Monthly processed.

• Different ways, depending if they are regular professors or lecturers.

• Equivalent to 1 million USD spend (yearly).

How we used Pure to do this?

• Giving user access to every Person registered in Pure.

• Using a 3 steps workflow.

• Setting up the option “Author contribution percentage” for research

outputs.

• Getting a specific report.

• Creating an email account dedicated only to this procedure

(bono_publicaciones@unab.cl), setting it up to send messages directly

from Pure (when importing).

• Designing a step-by-step guide to explain the process.

Final comments

• Bonus payment is supported now with an easier way to catch information and to communicate with researchers (no emails).

• Faculties get interested in Pure rapidly, although they continue having many questions about the system.

• Identifying faculties active in research will be quicker from now.

• All research information should be managed within Pure.

• More commitment and collaboration is needed (IT, Schools, VRRD, VREF, VRA, HR, I.I.R.R. and Library).

• Populating with ORCiD, Researcher ID, Google Scholar.

• Connecting our researchers with Pure community.

• AMM (2019): Internal funding contest and project management

• Funding discovery included?

Improvements list

• Importation wizard filters or folders (pending, error, etc).

• Importation of candidates as “Entry in progress” (by deafult).

• Indexation date available (reportable).

• WoS imported no fingerprint (even after Scopus merge).

• Email notifying validation for Personal Users (own research outputs). Currently it Works

only for “Entry in progress”.

• Easier and more effective ways to edit email and messages options, depending on the

Workflow status.

• Automatic update of corrected information in Scopus (document type, year, publish

state, etc).
