In the early 2000’s every browser except internet explorer allowed users to block unwanted pop up advertisements.

In 2004 Microsoft released Windows XP which removed pop ups from internet explorer.

The history of radio advertisements…

In the early 1920’s radios stations were established and used for manufactures and retailers to advertise.

During world war 2 the radio was used for public service advertisements.

The advertising techniques used to promote commercial goods and services can be used to inform, educate and motivate the public about non-commercial issues, such as HIV/AIDS, political ideology, energy conservation and deforestation.

Audience for radio advertisements…

Stations such as Capital and Kiss are aimed at teenagers and young adults with the use of pop music, however they actually get a wider audience than that.

These adverts would reach their audience when they are listening to the radio either on there phone or in the car on the way to somewhere. Or when hey are at home listening to the radio.

Radio 4's average listener is 55, and it has 10.9million listeners a week. At Radio 1, the average age is 32, but it had an audience of just 10.8million a week in the last quarter. Radio 2 still has the UK's biggest audience at 14.94million a week.
