First Saturday Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations
Jesus, our Good Shepherd, said: “The harvest indeed is great but the laborers are few.” Let us lovingly accept Jesus' invitation to pray to “the Heavenly Father to send forth laborers into his harvest.” Please join us in our "First Saturday Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations" next Saturday, May 7th at 6:30pm. We will ask our Lord Jesus to give our young men and women the grace of responding quickly to God's voice. We will also pray for the support our bishops, priests and consecrated people in their apostolic labor. We also pray every Thursdays, from 3:15 to 4:15pm
As we begin the month of May our focus on the Works of Mercy is: Counsel the Doubtful. As we read together Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation On Love in the Family we encouraged to live, share and proclaim to the world the truth of sacramental love in marriage. We often find that young people today doubt the reality of permanent and fruitful love and therefore settle for less in their seeking true love. To Counsel the Doubtful is to live the truth as we celebrate love in the struggles of life. As Pope Francis writes:
The sacrament of marriage is not a social convention, an empty ritual or merely the outward sign of a commitment. The sacrament is a gift given for the sanctification and salvation of the spouses, since “their mutual belong-ing is a real representation, through the sacramental sign, of the same relationship between Christ and the Church. The married couple are therefore a permanent reminder for the Church of what took place on the cross; they are for one an-other and for their children witnesses of the salvation in which they share through the sacrament”… the decision to marry and to have a family ought to be the fruit of a process of vocational discernment. (#72)
Marriage doesn’t just happen. It comes from the seeking lasting and fruitful love in the truth of God’s grace and blessing.
God Bless, Fr. Mark
First Wednesday Mass and Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help
Everyone is invited this coming Wednesday, May 4, to celebrate the Novena-Mass in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The Novena-Mass is celebrated here at St. Lucy church every first Wednesday of the month at 6PM. And on other Wednesdays, the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is observed at 6:30 PM preceded by the praying of the Holy Rosary at 6 PM.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Do you remember being uplifted when hearing the witness talks in the last few months? Would you like to share your own experi-ence with our worship community?
The next session will be in May 21 & 22.
Please volunteer. We need more speakers! Most speak at the Mass they regularly attend. The talk needs to be about your own faith experience. It could be about a moment that has brought you closer to God, or allow you to feel the presence of God, a miracle that you have experienced, or how you experienced the gift of "Mercy". If you are willing to be a witness to God's abundant mercy and love, then please email your name and the Mass you could speak at to stlucyparishoffice@dsj.org. Thank you for your courage and consideration. St Lucy Worship Group

Sisters of the Holy Names Annual Strawberry Luncheon
The Sisters of the Holy Names invite you to join them at their annual Strawberry Luncheon on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:30 am. The luncheon is held at the Orchard City Banquet Hall, Campbell Community Center. Tickets are $20 and by advance reservation.
May 1868 saw the arrival of the first Sisters of the Holy Names to California. May is the month to celebrate this anniver-sary and is a time to reflect on the years of ministry: remembering the students taught and lives touched; and give thanks for so much generosity. The Sisters have been a part of the fabric of the south bay since the 1950s: teaching at St. Mary’s in Los Gatos, St. Christopher and Saint Patrick School in San Jose, and running the Casa Maria Montessori, to name a few. Many of the Sisters have recently relocated to Campbell.
Gather your friends and come join the Sisters in celebration. We will have drawings for Gift Baskets.
