How did our

Kids become

Overweight?

Powered by

Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in

America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children

in America are overweight or obese.

Walks to and from school have been

replaced by car and bus rides.

Gym class and after-school sports have been cut;

afternoons are now spent with TV, video games, and

the internet.

Adolescents spend an average of 7.5 hours a day

using entertainment media, including, TV,

computers, video games, cell phones and movies.

Hispanic children saw 32% more unhealthy drink

ads on Spanish-language TV in 2013 than in 2010.

80% of mothers of overweight children underestimated their

child’s weight compared with 7.1% of mothers of children of

normal weight.

Families eat fewer home-cooked meals.

Thirty years ago,

kids ate just one

snack a day,

whereas now they

are trending toward

three snacks,

resulting in an

additional 200

calories a day.

Obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular

disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, bone and joint

problems, poor self-esteem and social and psychological problems

• Now that’s the bad news. The good news is that we’ve cracked the code on how to get kids moving which helps

our children lead healthier lives.

Fly Movement is a one-of-a-kind kids fitness program that Implements simple and friendly team competitions that

inspire kids to move, and therefore, gets results

“Since joining the Fly

Movement program, my

classroom has been more

eager to go outside and do

more physical activities. Even

I have become more active in

physical exercises due to the

program. I am also

discovering that it is bringing

my students’ families closer. I

have parents joining their

children in bike rides, jogs

and other physical activities.”
