2015 review
IntroductionZOOM is the first and only auction of photos taken by the stars of any sport. It is also the only independently-arranged event in F1 which involves all of the drivers, all of the team bosses and the sport’s chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.
ZOOM launched in late 2012 and has held three star-studded events since then with photographs auctioned by Coys in front of a star-studded line-up of VIP guests. All proceeds from the auction of photographs go directly to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC).
The images below are a selection of the photographs taken for the 2015 ZOOM auction. To see all the images from 2015 and the previous two events, please click here.
The eventThe 2015 ZOOM gala event and auction took place at the InterContinental London Park Lane on Friday 16th January. More than 300 guests were in attendance, including Geri Halliwell and her F1 team principal fiancé Christian Horner, Bernie and Fabiana Ecclestone, team bosses Claire Williams, Graeme Lowdon and Éric Boullier, F1 designer Adrian Newey, Prince Leopold of Bavaria, Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith, Thin Lizzy’s Scott Gorham, TV presenter Lizzie Cundy and acting stars Liam Cunningham and Stefanie Powers. Nikon branding was prominent at the event in particular on the branding boards where a photographer from Getty Images was stationed to snap VIP guests.

Sky Sports competitionSky Sports was this year’s partner for the official ZOOM competition. F1 fans were asked to submit their favourite images of the season, with the best photographer winning a suite of prizes including a Nikon D5300 camera, two invitations to the auction and the opportunity to see their image feature in the official ZOOM book. Sky ran dedicated articles about the competition and heavily promoted it on social media, as well as filming live at the event for Sky Sports News.
Broadcast mediaFilm crews present on the red carpet and at the event included Sky Sports, London Live, Getty Images and Germany’s RTL, as well as two crews producing official videos for ZOOM. Nikon branding was featured significantly on the footage. Click on the images below to watch the videos.

Social mediaThe ZOOM Twitter and Facebook pages frequently posted content about Nikon and intiatives connected to its involvement in the project. In addition to this, other ZOOM partners such as Circuit of the Americas, Neuschwansteiner and Sutton Images also promoted the connection. A competition on Twitter to win a COOLPIX S9700 camera by taking the best photo of the event further engaged guests with the Nikon brand. A selection of social media posts are shown below.
