Fast Women Who Love Their
Corvettes
For 47-year-old Kimberly Zeller, the force was with her on a South Jersey back road, roughly 11 years ago, when she sat for the first time behind the wheel of her daddy's new Corvette. What happened next was a jolting moment of power and awe, the sports-car equivalent of finding Jesus. "We pulled over and he let me drive it," she says. "He told me, 'Put both hands on the wheel and put your foot to the floor.' It was like oh… my… God!" Father knows best. Speed thrills. And Kimberly Zeller was a convert. Read more…

Five reasons the new Corvette will stay an old man's car:
Chevy's attempt to get Gen X in a C7 Corvette is doomed to
fail
According to market research firm Strategic Vision, the average Corvette buyer is 59 years old. That means
the “younger customers” Chevrolet is targeting are members of Generation X, born from about 1960-80. Big
differences exist between the 'Vette's current core audience of Baby Boomers and the slacker generation (of
which your author is a member), including these five significant hurdles that stand in the way of the
Corvette's demographic downward drive. Read more

Sweet Dreams: 2015 Corvette Stingray
The seventh generation Corvette (C7) may be GM’s best effort so far in this still young 21st century. The current interpretation
of this iconic sports car made its debut in 2014 and has been pulling down well-deserved awards since. Officially known as the
Corvette Stingray, for 2015 it receives several important updates. I had the privilege of spending a thrilling week behind the
wheel of one during the heart of autumn, a specimen adorned in a fetching paint scheme that whoops, “Let’s drive!”

Not All Horsepower Addicts Are Men
Whoever said that only men have the need for speed?
Not Tracey Richardson of Lexington, Kentucky, who
drives a 2010 Corvette Grand Sport with a 6.2-liter V8
engine that rides herd over 430 ponies. And not Tamara
Wong of Dublin, California, who gets her motoring kicks
behind the wheel of a2006 Dodge Charger SRT8, which
is powered by a 6.1-liter V8 that delivers 425
horsepower.
It’s true that the majority of muscle-car owners are men, but Richardson and Wong are only
two of the many women in America who are out there
tearing up the road in their Corvettes, Chargers,
Mustangs, and Camaros – not to mention luxury speed
demons like Porsche 911s and AMGMercedes models.
Indeed, this is a very big country, one that includes
millions of horsepower freaks. So even though females
may be in the minority in this category, there are still a lot
of them putting the pedal to the muscle-car metal.

Light Show Karen Bedell might be a grandmother, but that has not stopped her from realizing her Corvette dream and helping others to realize their own passion for those four round taillights of excellence. Karen Bedell was born and raised in Baton Rouge, along with her older brother, Keith Jarvis. Being only one year younger than her brother, Karen was very close to Keith growing up, and developed a love for the things that he loved. Those things included dirt bikes and muscle cars. It is to Keith that Karen attributes her appreciation of fast cars, which grew into the passionate love for Corvettes that she has today. Karen says that she has had an appreciation for “the four round taillights that hold a reputation of pure performance” since childhood. But, it was not until 2009 that she stopped to take a look at what was to become her first Corvette, a pre-owned Navy Metallic coupe. Impressed with the handling of the car on her first test drive, she was finally able to convince her husband of 38 years, David, to let her take HIM on a test drive as well. But, she did not exactly win him over with her expertise behind the wheel: Read more…

Why Midlife Women Don’t Drive Corvettes
I can honestly say that I have never met a woman going through a midlife crisis who has the urge to trade in her mini-van for a Corvette. We tend to make midlife splurges on high power shape wear, department store anti-aging cream and for the especially brave and vain, Botox. Menopause brings with it a lower libido so why in the world would we want to drive a penis? Who wants to smash their reading glasses into the top of their head while crouching into the car? Our minds can’t afford to get any foggier. It’s hard to look sexy while catching your ass on the outside of the car while trying to gingerly lower yourself into the driver’s seat – eventually dropping down like a lead balloon while your hormone induced saggy cleavage creates an airbag effect leaving you unable to look out of windshield. Nostalgic about Prince’s song, Little Red Corvette? Think again, after child-birth our little red corvettes have grown into slate gray pick-up trucks with no pick-up. Where would the children sit? Where would the children’s friends sit? You would need a bullhorn to reach up to the fast food drive thru speaker. How would we get the grocerys home? If you get pulled over for speeding, you wouldn’t be able to get out of the car fast enough, then you would get arrested for resisting arrest. That’s why midlife women don’t drive Corvettes.
How true is this?

Let’s See How The NCM Sinkhole Repairs Are Coming Along:
It’s been about a month since a portion of the National Corvette Museum closed so the infamous sinkhole can be repaired. For an update, we introduce to you Project Manager
Zach Massey, who gives us the skinny on what is being done this week.
Massey states that there’s been a slight change of plans on their approach, which resulted in “establishing a uniform grade at the bottom of the cone, and creating a concrete mud mat which was poured [on December 5th].” This gives the construction crew a surface from which to work. After the work surface cures, they plan to interlock three or four
sheets at a time and slide them into position to close the gaps.
There’s more to this engineering feat than just what’s been described above − take a look at the below video to get the whole story on the Corvette Museum’s repair process..
