Tool for research
Tangent Delta Test means controlling the enameling process The Tangent Delta Tester (TgD) from DSE Test Solutions delivers all the information needed for optimising and controlling the many production processes. The measured data are compressed and displayed in a full curve, showing the Tangent Delta as a function of the temperature.
More than just time and money saving This method is the ultimate way of making a fast, accurate and reliable determination of the enamel curing, and at the same time, showing residual solvents or additives in the insulation. Investing in a TgD tester is fare more than just time and money saving, also other parameters are important to control after the wire has left the manufacturing plant. Both residual solvents and curing state are factors that have high influence on temperature index, lifetime and physical behaviour of the wire.

The quality of wire is not visible, but it can be measured
Even though present day enamelled wire is an excellent product, there might be good reasons for knowing the curing of the wire. The curing is essential for the production process and the quality of the final product. It is a benefit for the manufacturers and the users of wire that the quality/curing of the enamelled wire being used in the production is stable at each delivery or when supplied from different manufac-turers A few minutes test delivers all the information needed for incoming inspection:
Knowing the curing minimizes the risk of poor quality winded products
UNDERCURED Wire means too soft enamel, reduced resistance to mechanical stress and presence of residual solvents
OVERCURED Wire means risk of cracks in the surface, reduced flexibility, poor solderability
Compare parameters of the different deliveries, ensure consistence and stable quality
For research and development, in cooperation with the manufactures of wire and based on docu-mentation adjustments of specifications can take place
Few minutes test, can secure a valuable production

TD5 Software Features
Handling of data
The use of Microsoft SQL database structure ensures easy saving and retrieving of wire data from a local PC or from a central server.
Advanced Database search function Efficient search function makes it possible to find and compare data stored in the database. Re-trieving data for e.g. a specific customer com-bined with result and time is simply done by means of few mouse clicks.
Easy operation and helpful features
TD5 is user-friendly and easy to operate. During the measurement the curve is visible and combined with a reference wire the operator has the best possible overview.
Data input For fast and precise data input, pro-duction code and wire ID etc. can be entered into the database via barcodes.
Multiple Curves
Reference curves
Software option B This software tool evaluates the PEI base coat on self-bond wires (XWE types). A mathematical evaluation of the PEI curve lies beneath the self-bond signal and the Tangent Delta curve. This function eliminates the need for stripping self-bonding overcoat of the wire.
Documentation of production quality
It is possible to make test reports in PDF format. Following information can be added to each indi-vidual sample: Enamel type, supplier name, order number, machine ID and other comments at-tached to the measurement in the remark field. Company logo can be imported and shown on pages. Updating information in the fields for re-marks is possible also after the test is completed.
Approve/reject function Limits for approval or rejection of a measur-ing can be set for two tangents for easy eval-uation of the results.

Dimensions
Round and flat wire
TD5 is built to handle a wide range of dimen-sions in both round and flat wire.
Multiple frequencies
For maximum flexibility during research and development the following measuring frequen-cies can be selected: 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz and 100 kHz. Default according to the Norm IEC 60851-5 the measuring Frequency is 1 kHz.
Calculation and presentation
TD5 starts to measure and calculate the TgD temperature automatically when the sample holder is loaded into the oven. During the measurement, the development of the curve is displayed on the monitor. The software enables setting limits for the mini-mum and maximum TgD temperatures. In case TgD temperatures exceed the preset limit values, an “Approved/Rejected” window will appear.

High Voltage Continuity Tester
When the wire passes through the conductive brushes, any current leakage being measured will reflect the insulation properties of the enamel. The high voltage control circuit is designed with an advanced current control system to avoid sparks damage of the wire insulation or electrode system. Based on the most advanced software platform on the market, the HVC 360 Flexible test system is applicable for testing all types of wire insulation with a test voltage from 350V up to 6 kV DC.
Basic operation principle
Most reliable quality control tool
Valuable documentation for each meter of a spool
Reduction of scrap
Improved efficiency
Measurement with two level detection
Storing of data on local PC or central server
IEC 60851-5 compliant
In the HVC 360 Flexible Systems there are two individually adjustable levels of detector threshold. The two detection levels make it possible to divide the faults into groups for pin holes and weak spots.
The test results are collected and compressed by a processing module. When a test length is com-pleted the data is transferred to the PC and stored in the database locally on the PC or via a net-work on a central server. At spool change a label can be printed automatically showing all key data of the completed spool. See the full list of data which can be printed in section “Data stored in the database” page 16.

HVC 360 Flexible Features The low tension of the soft conductive brushes brings new opportunities for superior quality control of a wide range of dimensions - and with a full 360-degree surface coverage. The HVC 360 Flexible features
Full 360 degree surface coverage
Wide range of dimensions
Low tension means no damage of the enamel because of the very soft conductive brushes
Easy to maintain
No damage from sparks

Select a Pre-set To simplify the operation it is possible use up to 99 pre defined settings. The predefined pre-sets can be password pro-tected by the administrator of the system.
Settings in short form
Password protection
It is possible to lock the settings on each line. The setting can not be changed unintended if the operator does not know the password. For achieving maximum flexibility the protection level is divided into 3 different levels. Administra-tor, Supervisor and Operator.
Threshold 1 and Threshold 2
By operating with two different thresholds/sensitivities, TH1 & TH2, it is possible to get a pre-warnings in time before the wire turns into scrap. The most sensitive threshold TH2 will start count-ing failures caused by e.g. weak spots before more serious problems are detected by TH1 as shown below.

Build in security and no data loss solutions In case the connection from the Processor Module to the PC is absent/lost all test data is then tempo-rary buffered in the Processor module, in order to avoid data loss. At the time the connection is re-established or the PC works again all data temporary buffered in the Processor Module will be transferred to the PC and then stored in the HVC Database. In case the connection between a central server and the local PC is lost, the PC will then buffer the da-ta temporary, to secure no loss of important data.

Blister Detection Unit
Basic operation principle
Four side Blister Detection in one measuring unit
Monitoring HVC and Blister in the same displayed window (Dual View)
Available as stand alone measuring unit or combined with HVC continuity tester
Documentation for both continuity and blister detected in one file
Storing of data on local PC or central server

Improved efficiency
In the software the detection thresholds (sensitivity) can be set individually for both the High Voltage and the Blister detection. Furthermore the Dual View function provides inline information about the coalition of the two kinds of errors which helps the operator in tracing the source of the errors.
The test results from both the BDU and HVC are collected and processed by the processing mod-ule. A label printout allows the manufacturer to mark or label each spool of produced wire. Con-nection to central server enables calculation of thorough production statistics.

The Blister Detection Unit BDU operates dynamically by detection of changes in distance between the set of wheels. A high precision motion to Voltage converting device develop by DSE is detecting even the smallest changes. The BDU is optimized for accuracy, low need for maintenance and high repeatability over time. The BDU system can be added to our current HVC system, or operate as a stand–alone testing sys-tem.
