Open High School which first opened its doors in 1974 with radio broadcasting-based education

has successfully undergone a transformation to Internet-based education in 2008 and has became

the key secondary school based on the latest information and communication technologies

together with Open Middle School established in 2013

In particular despite its short history Open Middle School has been expanding its education

network nationwide for the groups who experienced educational disadvantage

With an original view to providing secondary education opportunities for the underprivileged

such as less educated adults and school dropout adolescents Open Secondary Schools is

deeply contemplating over how to create a new educational role in the context of increasing

diversification in our society Therefore Open Secondary Schools has consistently developed its

operation system and teaching-learning system mainly focusing on improving basic academic

background establishing a customized education support system through carriercharacter

education and counseling for at-risk students expanding the recognition system of extra-curricular

experiences with consideration of studentrsquos characteristics and enhancing accessibility to learning

contents and convenience for students These measures are being accompanied by tremendous

creative experiential activity via the learning experience recognition system For subjects recognized students can get excused from a class or exam

curriculum

Subjects recognized through learning experience recognition system will be processed as lsquocompletersquo Those subjects that are processed as lsquocompletersquo

are not calculated in the GPA so they are not reflected in school grade Therefore students intending to pursue higher education should check the
