WORK SHEET
This year, real estate taxes made up 7.99% of expenses at Hanover Grove. Therefore, each
member who lived here the entire year of 2015 is eligible to claim 7.99% of their total
carrying charges paid as a deduction to their income taxes. The following formula is used to
determine the amount of the deduction, but on the bottom half of this page the deduction is
listed for each bedroom type.
Carrying Charges * Times a Amount of
You paid in 2015 factor of deduction
Real Estate Taxes = $______________ X .0799 = $_______________
*Carrying charges you paid in 2015 are defined by the IRS as only carrying charge
payments. Do not include membership fees, late charges, and repair charges. Section 8 or
MSHDA payments made on your behalf are not counted. Only use the portion you pay each
month.
Our members should use the chart below. Find your unit type to see what the total amount
of your carrying charges were for 2015 as well as the applicable tax deduction.
