Verizon Network Longevity and Roadmap – CDMA to LTE Cat 6/1/M
Who are we?
Erik has been engaged in the wireless space for the last 20 years, first starting in the paging industry at the very birth of wireless data solutions. Most recently, Erik has been instrumental in deploying and architecting 2G, 3G and 4G LTE wireless networks along with their complementary products and services for Verizon Wireless.
Erik has extensive application and network support experience in all wireless networking protocols in the WWAN space and is currently providing both technical and network implementation technology expertise for Verizon Wireless enterprise customers throughout the United States. He has helped well over a thousand companies integrate Verizon Wireless’s network and technology into their products and services, enabling them to improve their own customer’s satisfaction and drive millions of dollars of new revenue for their core business.

Michael O’Shello has been in the telecommunications industry for over 15 years with combined wireline and wireless experience. He started with PrimeCoCommunications in the year 2000 which was part of the early formation of Verizon.
‘From the period of 2003-2006, he shifted his focus to wireline to gain experience with T-1, POTS, Analog, Digital, PRI, Voice Over Broadband, PBX systems, etc. In 2006, Michael returned to his main passion of wireless communications and has remained since.
Michael’s current and most recent position began in 2011, and is working with and growing our IoT Resale Program as the new wave of the future for wireless growth. His engagement has sparked some of the industry’s top growth drivers in the IoTspace such as alarm communications, telematics, and SCADA solutions.

The current state of LTE
All 4G is “LTE” – Right?– Depends on who you ask. Be careful to ensure that you
are not being sold some snake oil that passes off a
“Faux G” network as true “4G”
– LTE (TDD and FDD) = True 4G(10mb up and down, sub 100ms latency end to end)
– HSPA = NOT true 4G (6mb down, less than 1mb up)– UMTS = NOT true 4G (4mb down, less than 1mb up)

The most complete and best In-Building wireless coverage for your equipment…Period.

1. The Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband CDMA wireless data network is available in more than 264 major metropolitan areas, covering a population of 285 million.
2. Verizon operates its own network on its fully OWNED and DEDICATED towers – no large swaths of roaming partners doing their “own migration plan”
3. CDMA technology helps ensure reliable and consistent call quality and data access. - GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) can and is hacked regularly due to lax security on the air interface.
Don’t believe everything you read…
Where is the Verizon CDMA network going? What is it’s future?
Here are the facts:1. CDMA on Verizon is not going anywhere
for a long time 2. Verizon will continue to openly
communicate network migration plans3. Verizon has a future path to LTE (Cat
6/1/M) with 10+ year longevity behind it
