Overview

UX essentials

Your app works without changes to the UI.


Nokia X is based on AOSP 4.1.2 which supports API level 16.


Nokia X UI is based on stacked layers.


Glance screen shows time and system’s notifications.


Lock screen shows time, date and notifications.


The phone is unlocked with a swipe.


Fastlane provides access to recent activities, like apps and notifications.


Apps Menu contains app-launcher icons and widgets.


Control panel is available throughout the UI.


Android’s Home and App buttons were dropped to simplify the interface.


Android’s on-screen back button is replaced by a hardware button.


Lock/Power key works as in Android but the power-off menu is simplified.


Volume keys are available via standard APIs.


Widgets interaction is simplified. They do not scroll inside or resize on start.


Nokia X uses a different column structure than Android does.


Expanded notifications are found from Fastlane only.


Android Nokia X

Contracted notifications are found from Lock screen.


Toasts show as a black banner at the top of the screen.


Nokia X uses the HDPI bucket.


In rare cases Nokia Pure might affect the text length.


Notification ticker text is not supported.


Android Android Nokia X

Android’s Menu (3.0 and older) is replaced by Nokia’s Options menu.
