of R. E. L. Bell, died at herhome in Walhalla last Wednes-day evening at about six o'clock,after a lingering illness of sixyears from consumption. Shewas taken seriously ill aboutthirteen days before her death.Mrs. Bell was a daughter of E.J. Nix, of Salem, her motherhaving died about ten years ago.Twentythree years ago she was

married to R. E. L. Bell, who,with four children, two daughters and two sons, survives her.She was born in Pickens countyon July 21st, 1870, being at thetime of her death 39 years of age.Of her immediate family he]father and five brothers, Elisha,W. M., L. C., J. E., and J. I.Nix, and two sisters. Mrs. GeorgeKeith, of Pickens county, Mrs.M. B. Finley, of Salem, survive.She was a member of the Baptist church, having joined thechurch twenty-nine years ago irAugusta. Ga.
