President’s Note
I can say, without a doubt, that BritBull XXIV was a resounding success. The array of British motorcars on that fine 8th day of August was magnificent. You can see photos of every en-trant in full color here in this BritBull Issue. The venue at Grant Park in Spokane was grassy and shady. Even the weather was sunny and lovely. The rain held until the exact moment the final door prize was presented!
More new members were signed on during Brit-Bull. More about them and their LBCs in the next Oil Spot.
The final tally shows there were a total of eighty-six motorcars on display, and half were drive-ups who registered on the morning of the show! We awarded nineteen trophies. We sold out of shirts and sweatshirts, to enthusiasts who went home with
proof of attendance at the Inland Northwest’s Premier Car Event. At the NWBC annual picnic, al-ways held two weeks after Brit-Bull, treasurer Kevan McCallum mentioned that the club made about a thousand dollars from BritBull.
Most importantly, a tip of the driving cap to BritBull Producer, Jim Houghton. He has a note you will want to read below.
— Dave Hofstadter

BritBull acknowledgements We did it! We were able to hold our annual car show after its cancellation last year. We had heard all kinds of stories about lagging attendance from other clubs, but the day of BritBull dawned clear and pleasant and British car folks came out in force to enjoy the day. We had a little rain right at the end that just couldn't wait another hour but that was fine, too. We all enjoyed the show. There are so many who deserve thanks and recognition for all their contributions, from Roger and Shannon Potratz who did the artwork for the shirts to Mick Heckathorn & Nicki Thiot who evidently did a very effective job of placing the show signs around the Perry District; Robert Andrews and Leigh Ann Voss for photographing every entrant and compiling the BritBull edi-tion of the Oil Spot; Gary High and all of the parking crew who got every car in its proper place; the judging firm of Martin, Newland, High, and Yarbrough for their knowledge and integri-ty in selecting the best in show. The Best MG in the show was chosen by Bob Hughes’ group from the MG Club. The registration trio of Diane Hofstadter, Peg High and Maddy Houghton made sure everyone was properly entered. Our “sales department”, Sandy Shaw, sold out every vintage shirt as well as our entire stock of 2021 shirts, too. And our new Treasurer Kevan McCallum did all of the computer work of reg-istering and scoring the winners with incredible speed and ac-curacy. We owe a special thanks to our esteemed leader, Dave Hofstadter, for his guidance and hosting talents during the tro-phy presentations. And to all of the previous Show Directors for the example they set and the notes they left for the new guy to simply follow, my sincerest gratitude. Now on to a new year and an even grander event in 2022. Finally, a massive thank you to everyone in the Club, - Jim Houghton

A special “Thank You” goes to Jade Leighton. She has been our trophy presenter at BritBull ever since I can remember. She is experienced and the trophy presenta-tions run much more smoothly due to Jade’s enthusiasm.
