The Lord Is My Shepherd by Pastor Fee Soliven
Psalm 23 Sunday Morning December 1, 2013
Psalm 231 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not
want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside
the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of
righteousness For His name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort
me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You
anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the
LORD Forever.
1. The Lord is my Shepherd
That's Relationship!
1 John 3:1-31 Behold what manner of love the
Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2
Beloved, now we are children of God;
and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone
who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
2. I shall Not Want
That's Supply!
Philippians 4:19"And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus"
Psalm 111:2-62 The works of the LORD are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. 3 His work is honorable and
glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. 4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. 6 He has declared to His people the power of His works, In
giving them the heritage of the nations.
3. He Makes Me to lie Down in Green Pastures
That's Rest!
Matthew 11:27-3028 Come to Me, all you who labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and
learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My
burden is light."
Jeremiah 31:25"For I have satiated the weary soul,
and I have replenished every sorrowful soul."
4. He leads me beside the still waters
That's Refreshment!
Psalm 1:33 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not
wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
John 7:37-3837 On the last day, that great day of the
feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his
heart will flow rivers of living water."
5. He Restores my Soul
That's Healing!
Malachi 4:2"But to you who fear My name The Sun
of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves"
Psalm 103:1-31 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who
forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases...
6. He leads me in the Paths of Righteousness
That's Guidance!
Romans 8:14"For as many as are led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God"
Proverbs 3:5-65 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways
acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
7. For His Name Sake
That's Purpose!
Psalm 91:14-1614 "Because he has set his love upon
Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I
will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And
show him My salvation."
Ephesians 1:9-119 having made known to us the mystery of
His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He
might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which
are on earth--in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works
all things according to the counsel of His will...
8. Yea, Though I Walk through the Valley of the
Shadow of Death
That's Testing!
1 Corinthians 10:13"No temptation has overtaken you
except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be
able to bear it"
Psalm 66:10-1110 For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. 11 You brought us into the net; You laid
affliction on our backs.
9. I will Fear No Evil
That's Protection!
Psalm 91:7-117 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because you
have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your
dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
10. For You Are With Me
That's Faithfulness!
Hebrews 13:5"Let your conduct be without
covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake
you."
Matthew 28:20"teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of
the age." Amen.
11. Your Rod and Your Staff they Comfort Me
That's Discipline!
Job 36:10-1110 He also opens their ear to
instruction, And commands that they turn from iniquity. 11 If they obey and
serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in
pleasures.
Hebrews 12:5-85 And you have forgotten the
exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be
discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He
chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives
." 7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not
chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become
partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
12. You Prepare a Table Before Me in the Presence
of My Enemies
That's Hope!
Romans 8:31"What then shall we say to these
things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:37-3937 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor
life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
13. You Anoint my Head with Oil
That's Consecration!
Isaiah 6:8"Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?"
Psalm 4:3"But know that the LORD has set apart
for Himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to Him."
14. My Cup Runs Over
That's Abundance!
John 10:10"The thief does not come except to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
15. Surely Goodness and Mercy Shall follow Me all
the Days of My Life
That's Blessing!
Psalm 24:5"He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the
God of his salvation."
16. And I will Dwell in the House of the Lord
That's Security!
John 10:27-3027 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never
perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father,
who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch
them out of My Father's hand. 30 I and My Father are one."
17. Forever
That's Eternity!
Isaiah 57:1515 For thus says the High and Lofty
One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy
place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the
contrite ones.
2 Corinthians 5:1-51 For we know that if our earthly house,
this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which
is from heaven,
3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may
be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit
as a guarantee.
