2) Prevent spread of communism
The Truman Doctrine
• Offered support for countries that rejected Communism

• Most of Western Europe was destroyed during World War II
• Europe needed MONEY for rebuilding
• 1947- U.S. Congress passed 12.5 Billion in aid for European Countries
