Summer Academy 2016 OverviewSummer Academy (SA) was a success in many
ways. The following presentation includes:

Classes and Students• Sunday Preview - 400-500 students came to
see their classroom
• 61 (60) sections of classes were conducted with 1,277 (1,260) students attending
• 73 (78) students participated as teaching assistants
Teachers and Staff
56 returning teachers with 5 new teachers
Website Numbers
• Overall page views were approximately 28,000
• 98% of the parents rated website communication
as Excellent, Very Good, or Good
• 61% (mobile and tablet) of our views came
from a mobile device. Last year it was 40%
• Our teaching assistant application continued to lead to high teaching assistant participation.
Blog/Communication• Featured every class on our blog
• Pictures taken daily and many different students
were highlighted
• Greatly increased our online presence and overall communication with parents
• 87% of parents surveyed said they viewed the
blog, compared to 86% in 2015 and 62%
viewership in 2014
Open House
• An action packed night filled with many hallway displays and exciting performances
• Anoka county food shelf was present
Parent Survey
• 96% of those surveyed rated their child’s experience as excellent, very good or good
• Positive feedback about communication and very few comments on wanting more communication from teachers and SA.
2017 Summer Academy
• Board of Directors: new board chair and new executive director
• Physical Host: Columbia Heights Public Schools
• Fiscal Agent: Columbia Heights Public Schools
