To Parishioners of St. Clare and St. Vincent de Paul Parishes:
Looking for a good activity for Lent? The St. Clare Hospitality Ministry will show one video a week for 6 weeks in a classroom off of the main hall of the Parish Center. Five videos are from the Catholicism: the Pivotal Players series of Bishop Barron. Below are the dates and a short description of each video: The remaining films are part of a multipart series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics and scholars who not
only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization. TUESDAY March 17, 2020, 8:35 AM Michelangelo i. The master of sculpture and painting is not a saint but serves as the privileged representative of creative potential engendered by the Catholic Faith. The Church professes that beauty is a route of access to God, and through humanity’s creative artistry we glimpse the power and glory of the Lord.
ii. In this episode, Bishop Barron travels to Rome, Florence, and all of the locations that played a significant role in the formation and vocation of Michelangelo. Bishop Barron says, “Michelangelo proves that the sensual, the artistic, and the beautiful can be a vehicle to the spiritual.” TUESDAY March 24, 2020, 8:35 AM G. K. Chesterton i. How does one engage a culture that is befuddled by Christ and suspicious of the Church? The life and witness of this 19th century literary convert shows that the fundamental disposition of effective evangelism is joy and life in Christ is a day-to-day encounter with an abundant and surprising offer of grace.
ii. In this episode, Bishop Barron travels to Oxford, London, Beaconsfield, and all of the locations that played a signifi-cant role in the formation and vocation of G.K. Chesterton. TUESDAY, March 31, 2020, 8:35 AM St. Francis of Assisi i. Rebuild my Church! Christ’s mission to St. Francis is the perennial task of the Church in every age of its life. But how is that reform and renewal accomplished? The radical simplicity of St. Francis’ life demonstrated how the founda-tions of true and lasting reform are to be built on the solid rock that is the witness of the saints.
ii. In this episode, Bishop Barron travels to Italy to visit all of the locations that played a significant role in the formation and vocation of St. Francis of Assisi.
