I am seeing Bay Area Children's Theatre'sproduction of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive
the Bus at Cal Shakes!
I will see the show at an outdoor venue. This means there may be outside noises,
like cars, planes, animals, or people.
When I get to the venue, I will hang outwith my pod in the lower grove while I
wait to check-in for the show.
I will sit at a picnic table or in a chairthat my grown-up brings. I will stay with
my pod during the show.
Once I am all checked in, I will be directedto my seat in the upper grove.
If I need to go to the restroom before, after, or during the show I will walk with
my grown-up to the restrooms in thelower grove or a Porta Potty in the upper
grove.
When I am done with the restroom, I willgo back to my seat with my grown up.
Soon I will hear a ding sound and therewill be a pre-show speech. This means the
show is about to begin!
In live theatre, the people performing willbe on the stage right in front of me. The
people performing are called actors.
The set helps the audience know when andwhere the story takes place.
The actors perform on a set. In this show, the set is the bus and some special
scenery like blocks and signs.
This show is a musical. That means musicand singing are used to help tell the story.Special sounds also help the actors tell the
story.
If sounds get too loud or I need to take abreak, I can step away and go back to the
lower grove with my grown up.
Sometimes the songs and sounds get loud.I can cover my ears if the sounds get tooloud. The music and sounds will not hurt
me.
After the show is over, the actors will take a bow. This is called a curtain call.
I can clap for the actors to let them knowI enjoyed the show and had fun! If theclapping gets too loud, I can cover my
ears.
After the curtain call, there will be a postshow speech.
Pigeon will tell me I can take a photo withthe bus. If I want to take a photo, I willline up behind the bus sign with my pod.
After I take photos with the bus, I will gohome. I can talk to my family and friends
about what I saw and how much fun I hadseeing the show!
If you want to know more about thestory then keep reading!
If you would like to be surprised, STOPREADING NOW!
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus is amusical. That means that the story is told
through speaking, singing, and dancing.
I can watch the story being told onstage. If I want to, I can sing and dance along in
my seat.
Here are some of the characters I willmeet in Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus:

not hurt Pigeon or me.
During the play, the actors will ask formy help. They will ask me to flap my armsto help Pigeon fly. I can flap my arms andanswer any questions that the actors ask
