The Children from Roka Primary School from Siem Reap , Cambodia came form very poor family and depended on donations and contributions from organizations to survive. As such , the children did not have a comfortable life like children in Singapore.
We got together and started to talk about how we could help the children of Roka Primary School in a village with the help of our teachers.
Our group wanted to bring smiles to the faces of the children in Roka Primary School, even it’s for a few days…
Our group wanted the pupils of Roka Primary to be involved in physical
activities/games ,have fun and be happy. We knew we would have the
problem of communication and language barrier.
We found it rather difficult to instruct them to play the games we had
intended for them. We thought we could overcome this problem by
using sign languages, gestures and show demonstrations of how to
play the games.
When we were at Roka Primary , we tried our best in conducting the
games . And the pupils really enjoyed playing the games. The few days
spent at Roka Primary was a tiring yet fruitful ..
The pupils got the idea of what we were trying to put across to them,
and the games went on the way. We were encouraging and in high
spirits to ensure that all pupils had a fair chance at playing the games.
We are looking forward to Day 2 at Roka Primary where a mini sports
day await the pupils.
Despite all the challenges we faced, at the end of the day ,
the children in Roka Primary School really enjoyed
themselves. This was evident from their face which showed
excitement and happiness.
