Any holistic approach to health must necessarily include the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the patient, together with the recognition that all these aspects are intertwined. Each affects the others. The evolution- balance- and the declination of the Body, mind and soul always passes through chaotic phase. Health of the body, mind and soul should always be achieved by multi-dimensional approach for a long lasting result.
Astrology, Herbs, Gems, Mudras, Mantras, Yoga etc., all are aimed at strengthening & balancing the internal chemistry of the body. Nothing is quackery, all are time-tested.
The precision at which astrology calculates cosmology and its events are by itself a proof to its accuracy, utilizing such a science for human upliftment should create no doubt about its positive results. Reciting Sri Vishnusahasranama is one such astrological remedy gifted by our seers and sages for the entire humanity.

Shree Vishnusahasranama Vishnusahasranama is one of the most sacred and commonly
chanted shlokas to contact the Divine within for peace and harmony. Reciting it daily not only increases the spiritual energy levels inside the body, it also helps in balancing and cleanses the mind and other subtle chakra systems of the body. We should always remember that good health is not only having a clean body; but also having a clean mind too. It also brings unwavering calm of mind, complete freedom from stress and brings eternal knowledge unknowingly and effortlessly.
Vishnusahasranama literally means "the thousand names of Lord Maha Vishnu". In Sanskrit, “sahasra means thousand and naama means names”. Lord Mahavishnus’ 1,000 names each eulogizing one of His countless great attributes. In Vishnusahasranama, apart from the initial and concluding prayers it has a total of 108 shlokas in anushtup chchanda (a meter of poetry).
In a purely orthodox Hindu tradition, a devotee should daily chant the Upanishads, Gita, Rudram, Purusha Sukta, Devi Mahatmyam and Vishnu sahasranama. If one cannot do all this on any day, it is said that chanting Vishnusahasranama alone is sufficient. Vishnusahasranama can be chanted at any time, irrespective of gender.
The Vishnusahasranama as found in the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata is the most popular version practiced, though other version from Padma Purana and Matsya Purana exist.
According to the 149th chapter of Anushāsanaparva (verses 14 to 120) in the epic Mahabharata, Lord Krishna accompanied by paandavas visit Bhishma who is on the death bed (of arrows) in the battle field of Kurukshetra.
During this conversation Bhishma eulogizes Vishnusahasranama originally composed by shree Veda vyaasa muni.
Varahi Tantra says that in the age of Kali yuga, most stotras are cursed by Parashurama and hence are ineffective. While listing the ones which are free from this curse and hence suitable during Kali Yuga, it is said, "Gita of the Bhishma Parva, Vishnu Sahasranama of Mahabharata and Chandika Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam) are free from any Doshas and grant fruits immediately in Kali Yuga."
In a classic astrological text, the Brahat Paraashara Horaashastra, Sage Paraashara frequently recommends various verses from Vishnusaharanama for various problems. He also considers reciting Vishnusahasranama as the best remedial measure for many planetary afflictions.
Shirdi Sai Baba, commentating on the merits of Vishnu sahasranama (Ref Chapter XXVII of “Shri Sai Satcharitra”) says reciting it will ward off any illness and dangers in life and also protects you all the time.
Many sages and saints of yore have stressed the importance of reciting Vishnusahasranama. Adi Shankaraacharya, Raamanujaacharya, Madhvaachaarya, Paraasara Bhattar, and many have compiled commentaries on Vishnusahasranama.
Sages and Vedic Scholars have diagnosed Vishnusahasranama shloka recital as a Vedic and is also used for astrological remedies for all the 27 Nakshatra’s (Birth Stars).
The entire zodiac comprises of 360 degrees (remember 60 seconds = 1 minute and 60 minutes = 1 degree). The 27 Nakshatra’s (stars or constellations) occupy the 360 degrees of the zodiac. This means that each
Nakshatra gets 13 degrees and 20 minutes in the zodiac. Further, each Nakshatra is divided into 4 quarters or paada’s. Hence each paada occupies 3 degrees and 20 minutes. Therefore each sign in the zodiac occupies 30 degrees. Therefore, each zodiac has 9 paada corresponding to Nakshatra’s.
For example Mesha Raashi (aries) contains 4 paada’s of ashvini + 4 paada’s of Bharani and 1 paada of Krittika and so on… for other Rashi’s.
Rashi Nakshatras and Paadas mesha (Aries)
ashvini (4) + BharaNi (4) + krittikaa (1)
vrashabha (Taurus)
krittikaa (3) + rohini (4) + mrigashira (2)
Mithuna (Gemini)
mrigashira (2) + aaridra (4) + punarvasu (3)
Kataka (Cancer)
punarvasu (1) + pushya (4) + aashlesha (4)
simha (Leo)
makha (4) + pubba (4) + uttara (1)
Kanya (Virgo)
uttara (3) + hasta (4) + chitta (2)
tula (Libra)
chitta (2) + swaati (4) + vishaakha (3)
Vrashchika (Scorpio)
vishaakha (1) + Anuradha (4) + Jyeshta (4)
Dhanus (Sagittarius)
moola (4) + purvaaashada (4) + uttaraashada (1)
makara (Capricorn)
uttaraashada (3) + shravaNa (4) + dhanishta (2)
kumbha (Aquarius)
dhanishta (2) + shathabisha (4) + poorvabhadra(3)
meena (Pisces)
poorvabhadra (1) + uttarabhadra (4) + revati (4)
As said earlier, 108 shlokhas in Vishnusahasranam correspond to 27 nakshatra X 4 paada = 108 Shlokas.
Thus a person born in ashvini 1st Paada can chant first shloka, ashvini 3rd Paada can chant third shloka, rohini 4th paada can chant sixteenth shloka, Chitta 3rd paada can chant fifty-fifth shloka, purvaashada 2nd paada can chant seventy=eighth shloka and so on.
Reciting Vishnusahasranama daily followed by 9, 11 or 108 times corresponding nakshatra/paada shlokas is advised to ward off their planetary ill-effects. Reciting on Wednesday and Saturday has special effects. If you do not know your paada or quarter, then recite the entire four part of the shloka that belong to your birth star (Janma-Nakshatra).
For people who don’t know their rashi, nakshatra or paada are strongly suggested to recite all the 108 shlokas daily to get rid of all ills associated with one's Nakshatra. Many devotees have experienced positive changes in their lives within couple of weeks of recital.
A translation of the concluding verses (Phalasruti) of Vishnu sahasranama, states: "Nothing evil or inauspicious will befall a man here or hereafter who daily hears or repeats these names. Whichever devoted man, getting up early in the morning and purifying himself, repeats this hymn devoted to Lord Maha Vishnu, with a mind that is concentrated on Him, that man attains to great fame, leadership among his peers, wealth that is secure and the supreme good unsurpassed by anything. He will be free from all fears and be endowed with great courage and energy and he will be free from diseases. Beauty of form, strength of body and mind, and virtuous character will be natural to him.
