On December 14,
my friends and I all
volunteered in the Ugly
Sweater Run on
Fremont. Admittedly,
the beginning of the
volunteer work was
slow, my friends and I
helped take pictures of
the runners in the race.
However, as soon as
the runners took off, so
did the pace of our job.
During this time, I was
assign ed to pour water
and hot cocoa to the
exhausted runners who
had just finished the
race. Because of how many participates there
were, the job was very quick paced and I had to work quick
enough to keep up with how many people were pouring in
(admittedly knocking over a few cups along the way). It was
very refreshing to see how many people had smiles from ear to
ear and all the children who had participated alongside their
parents. Not only that, but a few of our own club members (as
well as our advisor) had participated in the race and had done
outstanding in it. Overall, the work was very enjoyable and I
am delighted that I had the opportunity to volunteer at such a
fantastic event.

The Ugly Sweater Run was really fun. It was a
great experience. Seeing all the runners wearing
their "ugly sweaters" (most of them were really
cute), I thought they were very creative and
interesting to look at. I worked at the hot
chocolate booth, and it was like an assembly line
of Styrofoam cups when the race ended. I had a
great time and I'd definitely volunteer again next
year.

~Past Events: Key Club Holiday Party~

Caring— Our Way of Life. Many Key Clubbers know that that is the
motto for this organization, but how about the parents? Not all of them
know what this club does; in fact, it would be understandable if some
of them fell under the common misconception that this club makes
keys. So, in order to remedy that, our club held the Key Club Holiday
Party!
On December 13th, several Key Clubbers and their family came to
the SECTA commons, bringing along suspiciously wrapped gifts for the
game White Elephant as well as treats and goodies for all of us to
snack on. With Christmas music playing in the background, the fun
was ready to begin!

Each officer gave a basic rundown of their positions as well as
experiences they found meaningful to themselves. Their words were
not lost on the crowd, as my mother was touched by our president’s
teary request for parents to understand their children’s passion to
assist the community through Key Club. It wasn’t solemn, however,
not at all! In fact, the mischief caused during White Elephant left
many laughing, and for those who had their gifts stolen—fuming~
All in all, it was a wonderful and successful night!

Our Key Club is
definitely making some
good strides, but that’s
not without our
sponsor club: The
Kiwanis Las Vegas
Strip Club! With Ms.
Ang’s direction,
assistance, and all of
Las Vegas Strip Club
help, our SECTA Key
Club is able to do
numerous events and
improve as a club.
Thanks to them, we
are able to collect
plastic bags for the
homeless that our
sponsor club crochets
in order to craft mats
for the homeless to
sleep in. Thank you Las
Vegas Strip Club and
Ms. Ang! We couldn’t
do any of this without
your help~!
