To the rookie presenter the opportunity to script out your entire presentation sounds like nirvana. When presenting online you are only an “off” toggle away on the webinar control panel for the webcam to be gone. Away from the prying eyes of eager webinar participants, an online presenter can present their content without anybody being aware that they are reading every word. It is every bit as magnificent as using a teleprompter. However, when you choose to use scripts to present your delivery material you open the door to sacrificing connection, engagement, emotions and relationship building in favour of confirming that every sentence you say is beautifully phrased. In many cases, this is not a good trade-off. Additionally, scripting is extremely time-consuming. If you want to become a top-quality online presenter don’t use scripts with regularity.
