Located in the increasingly popular museum district, the proposed Architecture Center Houston is the latest addition to the citys design community. As the home to Houstons chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Houston Architecture Foundation, the 12,000 square foot facility incorporates meeting rooms, an auditorium, and an exhibition gallery.
The iconic structure identifies the role of ArCH in the profession and sets a standard for designing the built environment. With this new facility, ArCH will promote understanding and appreciation of the ways in which architecture influences the quality of community life.

Austins exponential growth is a burden to its infrastructure. The increasing number of urban dwellers requires the city to offer people more in terms of quality of life. Parking is among the most frustrating inconveniences for everyone that visits downtown, and demand far outstrips supply. The city, which wasnt originally planned for mass parking, now plans for mass transit, but it will be decades until it is fully realized. Most people rely on cars to get to work and residents need vehicles for simple errands; Austin needs a parking solution immediately. Here is a canvas for urban art with immeasurable economic, ecological, and social benefits. A mixed-use structure, occupying the block adjacent to San Antonio Street and between 2nd and Cesar Chavez adds visual contrast to the district and city skyline. The design strives to keep Austin weird by incorporating colorful technology. The parking component itself is a constantly changing work of art. A pane of translucent glass illuminates when a car is parked.
Automated parking is the solution to the vehicle-dependent society. This technology has been tested and is prevalent in densely populated European cities. With its reputation for sustainable lifestyles, Austin can lead the way in the future of parking in the American Southwest. Automated parking is going to change the way we think about parking garages in urban environments. Since these systems are modular, they can be adapted to many different spaces and covered by various facades. Automated parking has advantages over conventional parking on all aesthetic premises. In total, the benefits of automated parking are so significant that it will become commonplace in cities.

The north facade has eight entry/exit modules, each processing thirty vehicles per hour. A lobby, electrical room, pump room, generator room, and storage room for spare parts are included on the ground level. The system is powered in part by photovoltaics, and also takes advantage of low energy costs during off hours.
To Park: Approach entry on 2nd Street, Choose available entry module, retrieve ticket, exit through the garage interior to the lobby
To Retrieve: Enter lobby, return claim ticket to computer, proceed to indicated parking module

Ecological benefits. These steel structures have twice the lifespan as their massive concrete counterparts. The ecological benefits of technology like automated parking make these systems impossible to ignore. This solution eliminates pollutants that would be emitted when driving a car in a conventional parking garage.
Social benefits. Creative parking solutions can go a long way towards making our world a safer and cleaner place to live. Not only do customers save time, parkers will be
safer and there will be less physical damage since the actual parking area is not accessible to the public.
Economic benefits. Operating costs for a conventional garage are considerably higher with greater needs for maintenance, security, and cleaning. The configuration of automated parking garages permits two to three times the number of cars as traditional ramp-style garages of the same volume.

An ancient Roman tradition, thermal baths have long been appreciated for their therapeutic properties. Located in West Georgia, the town of Warm Springs is nestled amongst rolling hills and freshwater springs. For hundreds of years these springs were used by early settlers and Native Americans who believed these waters could help cure the sick and wounded. Whether visitors seek healing, or simply a quiet respite from a hectic urban environment, a destination spa takes advantage of the natural spring.
The design and landscape of the premises foster a soothing, relaxing atmosphere. While most visitors come for a day, there is also a guest house for extended visits. Guests can bathe in the warm, natural mineral-rich waters and rejuvenate before, during, and after bathing at the refreshment bar. There is no particular order in which one must visit each bath, which all serve unique purposes based on varying temperatures and humidity levels.
