Sole-Source / Set-Aside
Sole Source Procurements: • The Government may sole source a procurement to a qualified 8(a)
firm if the value of the work is under $3.5M. • Typical sole source work includes routine, non-complex projects;
highly specialized requirements; or work of an emergency or urgent nature.
• Preference given to local firms for all sole source procurements
• Set-Aside Procurements: Depending on the results of a market survey the Government will
set aside work for 8(a), HUB Zone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Small Business firms if it can reasonably expect to receive two or more qualified offers within the given small business program.
• Typical work includes IDIQ contracts; repetitive work of a similar nature; work spread over a one to two year period; etc.
