awarded to your child for completion of this packet.

Kindergartenisnotasyourememberitasachild.Although,westillhavecentersandrecess,wenolongernap.Weareafulldaykindergartenprogram.Wealsohavemore

standardstocoverthaninpreviousyears.Wedevelopedthispackettohelpyourchildgetoffontherightfoot.Ifyourchildknowstheinformationcontainedinthispacket,theywill

beofftoagreatstartinKindergarten.Academicsuccessinearlychildhoodisgreatlydependentuponhelpfromhomeandpositive

selfesteem.Whenyourchildknowstheinformationcontainedinthispacket,theywill

feelsoaccomplishedandfeelconfidentcomingtoschool.Eveniftheydon’tlearn

everythinginthispacket,anyheadstartyoucangivethemisaboosttotheirconfidence.

Putyourinitialsineachdaythatyoucompletedthatday’sassignment.We

understand,thatyoumaynotgettoeveryday.Buteverythingyoucandoathomewill

justbetterprepareyourchild.

Tips• Ifyourchilddoesn’tknowanyoftheirletters,start

withthelettersintheirname.Oncetheyknowthose,add1-3newletterseachweek.

• IfyourchildalreadyknowstheirlettersORoncetheyknowthemall,beginworkingonhowquicklytheycannamethem.Makeitagame.Ifyoucannameallyourlettersin2min,youearn… (havesomekindofreward,TV/iPadtime)Lowerthetimeuntiltheycannameallcapitalandlowercaselettersin45seconds.Dothesamewithnumbers.

• Keepallyourmaterialsorganized.Betteryet,teachyourchildhowtokeepthemorganized.Maybekeepyourlettertiles/numbertilesinZiplocbagsandkeeptheminafolderwithyourworksheetsandpacketcalendar.

• Someoftheseactivitiesmayseemredundantbutthefasteryourchildcannameletters/numbersthebettertheywillbewithreadingfluencyandbasicmathskills.Youarebuildingafirmfoundationforyourchild’steachertobuildupon.

• Breaktheworkup.Do10minsatatime.• Tomakeyournumberandlettertilesmoredurable,

gluethemontoindexcards.• Beflexibleandfunwiththeactivities.Turnitintoa

game.Youcanbeascreativeasyouwish.Theimportantthingisthatyourchildisgettingpracticewiththesebasicfundamentalskillsandgrowingintheirconfidence.
