Introductions
Varsity Sponsor – Breana Murphy• Finishing 2nd year as RHS Varsity Sponsor
• Worked with the RHS Strutters for 1 ½ years
JV Sponsor – Sara Terry• Finishing 11th year as RHS Assistant Sponsor
• 20 years in cheerleading experience
Freshmen Sponsor – Jayme Hunt• Finishing 4th year as RHS Assistant Sponsor
• Worked with RHS Honor Guard for 3 years
Application• Turn application in ASAP
– Include a 4x6 (or greater) headshot
– Include a copy of your latest report card
• Home Access Center printouts are accepted but they must show
all 3 Quarter grades!
– A blank CD (if you want a copy of the music)
• Turn office referral into your Assistant Principal ASAP
– They will return this to us!
– You need to get this to them by April 6th.
• Physicals are required (more info ahead)
ALL pieces of the application are due
March 9th by 4:10 PM!
Physicals
• All physicals must be turned in with your RHS Cheerleader Application (due March 9th)!
No Physical = No Tryouts!
• All Rank One medical forms must be submitted ONLINE by March 9th!
• Physician’s physical examination form must be turned in with your RHS Cheerleader Application (due March 9th)!
Tryout Clinic• Tryout Clinic will be held Monday – Tuesday 3/21 – 3/22 from
4:30-6:30 in the RHS Main Gym.
• The applicants will go over cheerleading motions,
jumps, and will have a chance to practice tumbling.
• They will also learn two chants, a cheer, and a dance
(taught by the current Senior cheerleaders).
• No food will be allowed in the gym
– Bottled water only!
Tryout Clinic Attire• Applicants are expected to wear suitable
clothes to the clinics.
– Pants/shorts (not too short or too tight)
– T-shirt/tank top (following school dress code)
– NO JEWELRY ALLOWED!
• Cheerleading shoes or tennis shoes are
required.
• Hair should be up in a pony tail… WITH HAIR
PINNED BACK (a.k.a. not in their face)
Mock Tryouts• Mock Tryouts will be held Wednesday, March 23rd. Applicants
will perform just as they would for Thursday’s tryouts.
• Senior cheerleaders will evaluate them based on the following criteria:– Tumbling - Cheer/Chants – Spirit - Dance
– Jumps
• Applicants will get evaluation forms from 1-2 of the evaluators.
• Applicants may leave after their mock tryout is complete.– We will go in the following order for mock tryouts/tryouts:
1. Varsity 2. JV 3. Freshmen
Tryouts
• Tryouts will begin at 4:45 PM
• DO NOT BE LATE!!– Warm up time will begin at 4:15 PM
– Attendance will be taken at 4:30 PM
• On March 24th Varsity applicants will go first, followed by Junior Varsity applicants, and then Freshmen.
• Numbers will be assigned to applicants on the Tuesday of clinic. Candidates will wear this number for tryouts.
Tryout Attire
• Tryout attire is as follows:
– Navy blue shorts (not too tight/short)
– Plain white t-shirt (no v-necks)
– Tennis shoes or cheer shoes
– Hair in a pony tail (optional white ribbon)
–NO JEWELRY!
Tryout Procedures• Applicants will enter the gym one at a time…
– Tumble/Spirit to the middle
– 3 jumps (1 must be a toe touch)
– Walk to the side to wait for group members.
• After all three are in the gym…– Chant (senior cheerleader will call this)
• This chant will lead directly into the cheer.
• Applicants are encouraged to incorporate standing tumbling/jumps.
– Cheer• Will contain jumps/standing tumbling.
– Dance
• Group will leave the gym– As they leave, they will get an “After Tryouts”
informational sheet from a senior cheerleader.
Tryout Scores• Judges’ Score – 80%
• Assistant Principal Referral – 20%– All categories out of 100 points
• Discipline – 10 points subtracted for every referral
• Attendance – 10 points subtracted for every unverifiedabsence
• Tardies – 10 points subtracted for every tardy
• Grades – 10 points subtracted for every failing grade
– Regardless of if it’s Pre-AP, AP, dual credit, etc…
– A failing grade is a failing grade!

Miscellaneous Tryout Information
• Applicants will be required to stay in the commons until all
applicants in their group have completed tryouts.
– This is in case of a call back situation.
• After each group is completed, applicants will be notified they
are allowed to leave by THE SPONSORS!!!
• The numbers of the applicants who make the Freshmen, JV, and
Varsity Squads will be posted on the cheer website following the
conclusion of tryouts on March 24th.
• The numbers of the applicants who make the Competition Squad
will be posted on the cheer website later in the spring! (You must
make a Freshmen, JV or Varsity Squad to be considered for the Competition
Squad)
After Tryouts
• There will be a MANDATORY parent & cheerleader
meeting for the new 2016-2017 squad.

• At this meeting all new members and parents will
be given more important dates for the 2016-2017
cheerleading team!
Payment Information
• Vouchers for the 2016-2017 School Year:
– April 4th: CAMP DEPOSIT($100; non-refundable)
– April 28th: Remainder of Camp Fees (~$295)
– May 26th: Car Wash Tank, Cheer Bag, Bows
– June 18th: Camp Clothes, Shoes, Bloomers, etc.
• Clothes will not be given out until full payment has been
received!
– August: Turtle-neck, Leggings, Warm Ups (Varsity
Head-bands), Varsity Jersey (new), Megaphone,
Replacement Items, Pep Rally items, etc.

school year will be selling their items before/during the
camp clothes/uniform fitting on May 14th.
• The next slide has a cost breakdown of what might be
available.
• Payment must be made to the seller at this date (so, bring
your checkbook or cash!)

Spring/Summer Practices• We will have “New Squad” practices
during April/May.– Tuesday’s & Thursday’s
• These dates will be set by the April 4th
parent meeting.
• All practices will be held after school– 4:30 – 6:00PM
• Our Summer practices will start 1.5 weeks before our UCA Cheer Camp!
*During practice, we will work out, work on stunts, jumps, and learn material for camp.
Camp Information
• UCA Cheer Camp will be July 26th – 29th at
the University of Texas at Arlington.
– This is a Tuesday – Friday
• We will also have a UCA Stunt Clinic on
Wednesday, July 20th at Ryan High School. – More information about Summer Dates will be
provided at our parent meeting on April 4th!

2016-2017 Class Practices
• Our current Class Practices/Schedules are as follows:– JV/Freshmen > A4
– Varsity > 5th block
– After school until 5:30-6:00PM
• Next Year’s Class/Practice Schedule:– Freshmen/JV/Varsity > 5th block
– After school until 5:30-6:30PM (as needed)
– Before school from 7am – 8:15am (as needed)
Competition Squad• This squad will be made up of the highest scoring
cheerleaders on all three squads (Freshmen, JV, and
Varsity).
• We will only select this squad out of the cheerleaders
who express interest at our first parent meeting on April
4th!
• We will be competing at a UCA/NCA competition.
• This squad will practice, separately, in the Fall of 2016
and Winter/Spring 2017.
• We will hold a Competition Squad Meeting in
May/July!
– More details will be given at our April 4th meeting.
Random Information• Commitment
– Cheerleading is a HUGE commitment. It is very difficult to participate in more than one extra-curricular activity. Choose wisely!
