Q1)LIGHTS OUT was a headline project of the cultural programme 14-18 NOW on 4 August 2014. Everyone in the UK was invited to turn off their lights between 10pm and 11pm on 4 August 2014 – leaving only a single light or candle for a symbolic act of reflection and hope.
The project was inspired by a Sir Edward Grey quote,“The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime”

Nils Bohlin, the Swedish engineer and inventor was born on July 17, 1920 in Härnösand, Sweden and is credited with the invention of one of the greatest innovations in safety, X.
He was working on the project with Swedish aerospace company Saab, when he was asked to join its sister company Y(headquatered in Gothenburg, Sweden) to work on the same project, and was appointed Chief Safety Engineer.
Y began to introduce X in all their products in 1959, and in the interests of safety Ymade the design for X available to other car manufacturers for free.
The legacy of Bohlin remains with Y, as it is still consistently voted the safest product in its category.
