Foreword
Dear readers, customers and business partners,
It is notoriously difficult to depart from old habits – however, as a forward-thinking industry, we must accustom ourselves to doing exactly this. On an almost daily basis we are confronted with changes directed toward innovation and progress.
But amid this constant change, how can we guarantee improvements and consistency in quality? Mr. Xi has initiated the ‘Made in China 2025’ strategy and highlighted the need to further improve our quality. As the leading industry for special quality requirements and achievements, the automotive industry recognizes that the important factor in the improvement of quality is ‘people’. Without capable personnel and highly qualified specialists and managers, we will not have the top level management necessary for the success of the automotive industry in China. We will also lack an understanding of the requirements and a vision to learn (continuous improvements / Kaizen). Therefore, in order to ensure the success of ‘Made in China 2025’, it is imperative that we learn continuously and develop our skills further.
Drive with us into your future and let us be your guide. The contents of our trainings and examinations are developed directly by automotive specialists – from practice for practice. With our range of products, we make sure that you, as our customer, are always up to date.
For this reason, we are adding new training content to our catalogue this year. We shall start to add more emphasis on CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) which is a basic requirement to achieve IATF 16949 and customer satisfaction. As such, we have launched a training on Formel Q – compact (Volkswagen Group CSR). VDA QMC has been officially approved by Volkswagen to run this training. In this training, you shall be introduced to the customer-specific requirements of the Volkswagen Group. Please refer to page 48 for further information. To better understand all VDA Standards, a new training on all VDA Standards has been created. Most of these standards are requirements for German OEM, while some are simply guidelines written to share best practices (page 32). In addition, we shall provide a brief introductory training on the new and first VDA/AIAG standard FMEA (it is still a draft at this stage). For more details please see page 36.
Specifically for China, we have created a new quality tools overview of lifetime cycle. This will help you better understand when and which tool is required and helpful (page 44). Furthermore, we have added more Automotive SPICE® training (page 56), which is available in Mandarin for the first time. We have also updated the PSB training (page 49) with the new GB/T for risk assessment from DPRC and the Sino-German recall flow chart. In addition, we offer a PSB workshop to upgrade your PSB knowledge (page 50), where you will be given an update on the latest changes in PSB requirements and work on practical cases with the target to exchange experiences under the guidance of PSB experts. For better understanding, we have created a 2-day VDA6.3 upgrade training (page 28) and included additional practical examples.
“Man cannot discover new oceansunless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”(André Gide)

Foreword
Please note the transition periods for the revised VDA6.3 which is expiring in 2018:
VDA 6.3 auditors must complete their upgrade training latest by June 30, 2018 (page 27).
Please do not hesitate to contact our VDA QMC China team in Shanghai or Beijing should you have any enquiries on our programs. We will be happy to adjust the trainings based on the needs of your company or for your suppliers. All trainings are also available as in-house sessions and we offer special Top Management Trainings on CSR, QM requirements, Process and Product Audits (VDA6.3/6.5), new FMEA, A-Spice, Continuous improvements (Kaizen), Project Management (MLA), … and other trending topics. These management briefings may be customized and run in 2 hours, 4 hours or one day based on your preferences.
Drive with us into your future and face the challenges of the technological revolution
Best regards

QMC Members
The QM Committee China has the target to exchange and share German automotive know-how for China and to assure that qualified training will be provided in China with a practical approach. The QM committee in Germany determines quality standards and QM Committee China give input to develop them further. It’s a common platform to develop and implement harmonised quality strategies and methods within the automotive.
In August 1, 1997, the Quality Management Center ( QMC ) has been founded in Germany and in February 2006 in China to qualify automotive manufacturers and their supply chain. The QMC is attached to the German Automotive Association – VDA ( Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V. ) under the division of technical Board Member Dr. Joachim Damasky and under the management of Heinz Günter Plegniere ( Managing Director ). The VDA QMC China reports to VDA QMC Headquarters in Berlin. The General Manager of VDA QMC China is Tilman Tillmann. He is supported by the expert team of German OEM and suppliers in China ( see above QM committee China ). The QMC China are controlled by the Quality executive committee in German, the QMB.
The tasks and services provided by the VDA QMC China are working on issues in automotive quality management related with the target of continuous improvement. The spectrum ranges from the development of systems and methods to the design of future quality management systems and to improve your production capability and know-how.
The VDA QMC China team would like to thank the following organisations represented in the QM Committee China.

Increased customer expectations, safety require-ments, statutory requirements as well as the increased use of electronic components and software lead to more complex products.
End customer expectation can no longer only be determined in specifications. Automotive manufac-turers and the supplier industry must identify these product characteristics independently and transfer them into the products. This focus must also be taken into account when conducting product audits.
Meanwhile, product quality is assured by consistent implementation of preventive quality planning me-thods. For this reason, product audits not only have the task of assuring quality, but also of providing evidence.
Within the process chain, product audits are ex-pected to highlight the quality level of the inter-nally / externally manufactured products.

FMEA is a mandatory requirement in the automotive industry and must be part of the Management review as requested in IATF 16949. FMEA is a risk evaluation tool and very important for frontloading and to reduce cost in the early stage.
In time of increasing recall numbers and implementation of new technologies e.g. NEV, connected driving, APP risk will increase dramatically. More and more electronic parts will be build into modern vehicles.
Without Management attention on FMEA as a tool for risk assessment performance will not be achieved and projects will not be successful. IATF 16949 requirements request to define, that a process for FMEA has to be described that enables suppliers to fulfil their customers’requirements and expectations.
Today there are to FMEA standards existing: VDA and AIAG.A new FMEA VDA/AIAG Standard (draft only) was
released in Nov. 2017 which align the FMEA requested by VDA and AIAG. OEM representatives were involved (BMW, Daimler AG, Daimler Trucks, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Opel, Volkswagen) as well as suppliers (Bendix, Continental, GKN, Knorr Bremse, Lear, Nexteer, ON Semiconductor, Robert Bosch, Schaeffler AG, ZF Friedrichshafen) to create the new standard.
This workshop is specially created to support Top Management to inform you about the differences between the two FMEA standard and give you an outlook to the new VDA/AIAG Standard.
We will give you an overview about the new 6 steps requested on the new draft FMEA VDA/AIAG Standard. This training provides the automotive know-how about automotive core tools ( quality tools ) as well as production parts and the approval process in addition to when, where, and how to use what tool. The trai-nee will understand what the tools are designed for and how to use them in the right way to make improvements. The practice in China shows that many core tools are not well known or not correctly used in practice. That’s why performance will not always go as planned. In the area’s frontloading, project management, process- and product release ( PPAP ) and process and product quality has to be improved a long the entire supply chain. Therefore, core tools are an essential tool for your success.
This training provides decision-makers who need information, and employees who are interested in further or different tasks in their professional field, with an opportunity to learn about the essential issues and fields of application as well as customer requirements.
Methods and approach models are presented, discussed and explained using practical examples. Exercises create practical relevance for participants and prepares them to apply the tools in practice in their present or future fields of activity. The final test enables the participants to assess their qualification status after the training.

PSB (Product Safety Responsible) is a mandatory requirement along the supply chain Volkswagen group defined in Formel D for many years. Since May 2017 it is a worldwide requirement for BMW too.
Based on new requirements in China (by DPAC) and current new development in automotive industry we have updated our PSB Training. Many new recall guidelines and laws has been launched or will be launched in China in the near future. 2017 more than 20 Million cars were recalled based on critical safety issues. The PSB function gets more and more important. It has to be assured that qualified PSB experts exist along the entire supply chain.
A new VDA Standard for Recall-Management including the Sino-German Recall flow-chart is content of the PSB training. Currently VDA QMC expert working group creating a new VDA PSB standard. We give you an inside information and outlook for changes for the future.
To update your PSB knowledge we highly recommend to you to join our PSD (3rd Product Safety day China this year on 18th Sept. in Shanghai) or to join our PSB workshop (see 3.3) to work on practical cases and to exchange your experiences under experts and to build up your network.

3.3 PSB Workshop (for experienced PSBs)NEW
In a time of increasing recalls in the automotive in- dustry, and increased requirements for AQSIQ in China regarding the obligation to report failures, it is important to learn in advance ( before critical failures or hazards occur ) what to do and how to communicate with your customers and the authorities, because you will not have time to study the proper procedures after the event. The PSB workshop gives you practical advice and exchanges with experts on the key processes of PSB and the legal obligation to report safety-related failures.
The newly-organized PSB workshop was established with the purpose of facilitating dialogue with PSBs and
automotive experts involved in safety related issues. It provides case studies on recall issues and line checks to fulfill Chinese legal requirements, and Volkswagen’s requirements ( based on Formel Q ) for automotive and supplier industries. It is a forum for exchanging practical experience, discussing PSB-related tasks and responsibilities with experts, and building up your own network, which also enables you to exchange your experiences and best practices after the workshop.
Held onsite at the plant, the workshop includes a plant visit to one of our German VDA QMC members in order to present and share the best practice implementation of PSB requirements.

Currently suppliers providing products to both German and N.A. OEM's are required to assess their products' failure modes and effects differently, based on differences between the Severity, Occurrence, and Detection rating tables in the VDA and AIAG FMEA Manuals. This causes confusion and adds complexity to the product development and product improvement activities of the suppliers.
AIAG & VDA harmonization with a common set of FMEA requirements/expectations that will enable suppliers to have a single FMEA business process and associated set of methods and tools to produce robust, accurate and complete FMEA's that would meet the needs and expectations of any of their customers. In this workshop we will explain what’s new for AIAG FMEA users and what new for VDA FMEA users, how to implement FMEA based on 6 steps of methodology of AIAG & VDA FMEA version.
